Ooh, this is the first I've seen of someone actually using the Lucy BBT beam tables and side turrets. Kewlies. :)

I thought the planetary bombardment cannon was orange / yellow?  (Come to think of it, so were the forward arm cannons.)
Though it's not exactly 100% relevant to the current topic, from the Vprime cutscene they're blue, and TBH I reckon they look more powerful for it:



(You can ignore the bottom half of the image - it's just something there to show why I placed the bombardment cannons where I did. ;) )

I didn't mean he had to, I thought he was using a default Lucy... if he wants to change it, I guess that's alright... but can he also make a version of the orange / yellow ones that look as good as that bluish one?  (So we can stick it in mediavps... then again, it's been awhile since I've seen the Lucy firing, it may already be fixed up good.)

As far as I know, Shiv is coming out with an original idea. He doesn't want to follow canon laws, his mod takes place in his own universe, and he isn't using shields. He is free to give the Lucifer blue shields :pimp:

Hmm, I know that, have a look at this... (view as a slideshow in IrfanView or similar program)  EDIT: It's kind of funny seeing 11.7MB worth of BMPs squeezed down to 160 KB of JPGs and still being able to understand the pictures.  :D

Yeah, I know about that - but seeing all the other inconsistencies in that intro, I tend to ignore it. The cbanis from FS1 are much more reliable (and don't use the hideously low detail in-game model). ;)

Edit: As to the shields question, no. I carefully considered adding a shield mesh in the way that DTP once did for the original, but decided against it because it's effectively doubling the number of collision checks the game would have to do.
The surface shields feature of the SCP was originally designed with the Lucifer in mind, though it's not quite complete yet. Goob is looking into getting it to display a shield impact effect when the surface shields take damage. As is, it just does the damage to the shield rather than the hull, which is kinda useless when we have special hitpoints.

No, I'm talking canon (FS2 intro / FS1 in-game Orion destruction)... although I think I remember some conversation about the bombardment cannons having two modes, orange / yellow for anti-ship, and blue / green for planetary bombardment...

Or it could be that in atmosphere is has a different color?

That's quite a missile fest going on there.. Whos' doing the shootin'?

Do we see blue/green beams impacting the atmosphere? We just see a beam hitting a city on the surface of Vasuda Prime. Also, the beam looks different...the atmosphere might have changed it's "structure".

Such as...?  I remember reading that before, but I don't remember any specifics.  Would you post those here?  I'm curious.

Anyways, I've heard the theory that the atmosphere changes the beam's color, which is quite possible.  The only other explanation that I can think of is that the beam has two modes; one for planetary bombardment, and one for ship to ship combat.  (Maybe it has to focus the beam on a different wavelength to get through the atmosphere without the ozone dissipating it, I dunno...)  But the only thing we do know is that the beam hitting the planet was blue, and the beam hitting the Orion was yellow, as was the forward turret beam to the space station that was destroyed.

Yeah, the Manticore was firing primaries from its secondary banks (for some reason they did that in both intros, FS1 and FS2, though i can accept FS1 since it was most likely a change done early in development)


Also, it shows the Hades crashed on the planet in Deneb.

Oh, the Hades. I'm still a bit confused about the indentity of that ship. I thought it was the Hades(in fact, in SthCrs... ;) ), but I was never sure.

I assume that the Hades fell on the surface of a planet, who knows. Silent Threat was still far from FS2, so...
