The Myrmidon can carry Helios bombs. Does this make it a bomber?

I see the Myrmidon as a FS-ised F-104: fast interceptor primarly to be used as a fighter, but that can carry a nuke to blow up the Russians in case they attacked. So: arrive at Mach 2 and low altitude so they don't see you, drop the nuke and return home dogfighting.

The Myrmidon may be the same thing: come in fast, drop 2 Helios against a destroyer, then escape dogfighting.

Never heard of that fighter, but you have a point

It's an easter egg/cookie whatever you want to call it.

If you want to read a debate about it, read from here down.  Don't go arguing on about it here, it will just make another locked thread. It's an easter egg and that's it. (Unless :v: says it's canon)

I looked at it as a strategic weapons system designed around the ability to carry Helios.  This would also explain why it can't carry any other type of bombs.

There you go. I don't see how it could be an easter egg as it does not point out towards anything to make a joke out of it. It's not like Fallout 2 where you see the Knights of The Round Table and the Holy Hand Grenade of Antioch from Monty Python And The Holy Grail.

I still think its gotta be a typo in the table.  And why on earth the larger Helios and not the Cyclops?

Then why isn't that mentioned anywhere in the tech write-up?

In additon, has there ever been a canon mission where you get the chance to use a Helios and a Myrmidon? You'd think that if that was such a big feature they'd let you use it once.
Come on now, be honest. Wouldn't you all rather listen to your hairdressers than Hercules? Or Horatius? Or Orpheus? All those old bores! people so lofty they sound as if they s**t marble! - Mozart, Amadeus

Why doesn't someone e-mail :v: and find out? I'm sure they wouldn't be that pissed about us bugging them about such a menial thing.

By that logic I could do this:

Fallout 2 isn't like FS2 where there is this mega huge bomb in this medium sized fighter. I don't see how it is an easter egg as it does not point out towards anything to make it seem like some big item can come out of a much smaller box.

Easter eggs don't have to be funny. And also, funny is subjective (I don't know who would find this funny, though).

Look at it this way: It's Easter. Your on an easter egg hunt. You just found an egg. Do you start laughing? No.

Because who would choose to wield a bunker-buster if they could have a nuke instead? :p

beceause they can mount more bunkerbusters than nuke's.

But this is not mentioned anywhere else in the tech description.

RNI Systems' GTF Myrmidon replaces the Ulysses as the Alliance's primary space superiority fighter. The Myrmidon has received high marks for speed, maneuverability, armor, and loadout. An ultra-efficient hull configuration provides space for three secondary weapon systems, a first for Terran-Vasudan fighters. [This means that missile banks can be modified before a mission to let it carry Helios warheads]. This versatility enables Myrmidon squadrons to fulfill a range of combat roles, from light assault to heavy reconnaissance. In the Deneb system, the 53rd Hammerheads of the GTD Aquitaine have demonstrated the effectiveness of the Myrmidon against NTF forces.

Whatever it may be the reason for which it can carry such a powerfull bomb I do not care! I'm just glad I can use it to blow ships to pieces. :D

But youve got a point why the larger Helios and not the smaller cyclops?

And if :v: wanted to write "Harpoon" in the tables and for mistake they wrote "Helios"? This would also explain why the Myrmidon doesn't carry Harpoons...
I know, it's silly to base an assumption on a single letter, but anyway... ;)

That's the main possibility if it was a dev error.

Is there anyplace that says the Helios is actually bigger than the Cyclops?  I know bombers can carry more of them but that doesn't necessarily mean the Cyclops is smaller.  I only remember it being more powerful due to the use of anti-matter.  Again it could be a design thing.  Now this is assuming there is not facts supporting size.  The Helios could be just a longer weapon that doesn't work with the reload system designed for the Cyclops.  Since the Myrmidon can only carry 2 it would not need a bomb reload system.   By reload system I mean whatever is going on during the countdown where you can't fire.  Heck maybe in time you would see a Boa with a 20 Helios payload that can't carry Cyclops.
