Ok theres been something thats been bothering me for the past while, you know how in Capella they had to collapse each of the individual nodes to prevent further shivan expansion? Well in the FS1 campaign there was more than one subspace node leading to and from the sol system. Not only was there the famed Delta Serpentis node but there was also one from Beta Aquilea.

Just to let you know that I do agree that all things in both FS1 and FS2 are cannon but don't you think this is at least a minor problem with the plotline of the aftermath of the great war?

It actually had three total. We simply assume the others were closed as well, perhaps by the desruction of remnants of the Lucifer Fleet still trying to get to Sol.

why would an SCP error be considered as news? :wtf: *smacks Cobra*It's a feature.

Yeah it just seems like they stress that one jump node alot, sorta like they forgot about the others (or just didn't want to go that far into detail) I guess it will be one of those topics that we'd never be able to agree on, like what happened after capella.

I believe one of the :v: devs once said that the first game's references to multiple nodes (including the command briefing anis and the ending cutscene) were incorrect, and that the Delta Serpentis node was intended as the sole node to Sol.  It's basically a bit of retconning.

The whole FS1 jump nodes are incorrect... i think i read somewhere that the devs says that the campaign and plot line where done before the map or something... but the best i can tell is that everything is wrong...

-Ross128-Delta Serpentis-Beta Aquilae? LOL... the Shivans could attack Sol even before Vasuda...

And this suggest that there is no other way of going to Laramis and systems behind, when the Shivans take control over Ross128... but i think those systems where unexplored by that time...

And the Luci and the Bastion jump to Delta serpentis from Sirius...

What i think about his part?...

Well, Remove the Delta Serpentis-Ross128 node, and link Delta Serpentis with Sirius and link Ross 128, with Bettelguse or something like...

-Sol System:
In the plot, the Galatea jump from Beta Aquilae to Sol and from Sol to Deneb... there is even a .ani of this, jets consider this a plot error.

Freespace 2 is an extremely complicated storyline with MANY plotholes. It cant be helped. If you go into ever nook, cranny and crevice of the plot, you'll find holes and things that just dont add up.

Instead, sit back, and enjoy what the plot DOES establish.

There's ugly ass aliens out there, one race of which who are your friends, and the uglier are hateful xenophobics who make ships that look like overgrown arachnids on various illicit drugs, and along the way, humans, being the stupid race we are, become upstarts and slow us down.

Yeah I agree with your whole statement, this part though made me laugh, just because of how true it is.

I think it would be interesting to do the biggest port of all; change everything in Freespace and Freespace 2 to be canon with itself... it would certainly start alot of squabbling between alternatives and many different ways to fix up problems that would cause other problems...

You mean FS1. FS2 is damn good.

There are many plotholes in FS2. Like why Command lifted the blockade. However, they were probably meant to be answered in FS-----3.

Is that a plot hole, or something left vauge?

Which blockade is lifted? Against Bosch, it's explained that the GTVA wanted Bosch to escape, to develop ETAK for them and test it without the risk of another Hades Rebellion.

EDIT: Logic based on Canon evidence... not the only answer though the most likely.

That would take a lot of work and wouldn't be received well by the community.

Exactly. The only way it'd work is if it was done by :v: (and then the question is... if they're willing to redo the current games, why not simply build the third in the series instead?). I would rather have FS3 by :v: then a revamped FS1 and FS2 by :v:.

I explain away the FS1/FS2 node discrepancies by calling them "phasing nodes".

They're still there (part of the time), but they're not quite stable enough to be sanctioned for official GTVA travel, so they're not on the map.

Frankly, FS1 wouldn't have worked without the Delta Serp-Sirius and Deneb-Altair nodes. I mean, I suppose you COULD retcon in a bunch of missions of plowing through Shivan-contested territory with your four wings, just to get to Altair via canon nodes, but by then the Vasudan scientists would likely have died anyway.

Also, having a Delta Serpentis-Sirius node could explain why Sirius is a predominantly Terran system despite its proximity to Vasuda.

Perhaps it wasn't actually a JUMP, but a demonstration of what they were gunna do, and what they actually did was go the long way and it was just a plan to show the pilots.

But this won't explain why there's line and everything...

I kind of like the idea that the collapse of the Sol node/s had a far more wide-reaching impact on the subspace network, myself.

If the Shivans are protecting Subspace then collapsing Capella was a SERIOUSLY bad idea. ;)
