I was recently browsing GameSpot for Freespace 2 related articles, and I started re-reading the
review. Of course they massively praised the game, but then something caught my eye!
Excerpt from the GameSpot Freespace 2 review:
You can find plenty of games to join on the free Parallax Online servers, which also maintain comprehensive pilot statistics records. (Volition actually threw a couple of the pilots who had racked up the most impressive records with Descent: Freespace into one FreeSpace 2 campaign mission.)
I went to my FS2 Ship List, which also lists personas that are mentioned in-game, to see who it could be referring to. At first I thought it was probably the 2 SOC wingmen who get named in the 2nd SOC loop - Xinny and Zero. But then my eye caught an entry above them - Lieutenant Commander Christopher Snipes. Instntly my mind jumped back a few months to an ICQ conversation I had had with Snipes:

my nic? I used to play on PXo in fs1 with sniper997, end lazy peeps kept calling me snipes, so I called myself that...
He played FS1 on PXO... called himself Snipes... Anyone else drawing the same conclusion?!
