Quote
WASHINGTON - The nation's top two law enforcement officials acknowledged Friday the
FBI broke the law to secretly pry out personal information about Americans. They apologized and vowed to prevent further illegal intrusions.

Attorney General Alberto Gonzales left open the possibility of pursuing criminal charges against FBI agents or lawyers who improperly used the USA Patriot Act in pursuit of suspected terrorists and spies.

Looks like they got caught though, which is good.

i personally dont care if america goes to fascism, just so long as we dont screw up whilst conqering the world like the germans did.
I can no longer sit back and allow communist infiltration, communist indoctrination, communist subversion, and the international communist conspiracy to sap and impurify all of our precious bodily fluids.

The FBI director is falling on his sword, which is I suppose reasonable. The Justice Department was the one that outed them, so amusingly enough...go federal government, you damn noobs.

Re: Remember those fears about the Patriot Act? Well they admitted we were right
Well, the Patriot Act was always about providing the government with the means to invade people's privacy in the name of national security.

Same with the war in Iraq.

You know, the first chance I get, I'm out of here. I was thinking about applying for graduate studies or as a transfer to Imperial College London...I know a lot of guys are from the UK, what do you guys know about it?

From what i hear from the guys around here, its not any better. The netherlands and scandanavia seem like civilized countries though.... can someone shed light on this?

We're better off at the mo, I think, but not for lack of trying by the current government.

In my case I'm waiting on the University of British Columbia in the end of the month. Not that Canada is going to be any safer in the long run...

Well, by that I meant that there was some backlash against it...about a year ago or something...

Perhaps that original statement was a bit inaccurate. Like a slasher beam  ::)
