I watched it.  To be honest, it was the best B5 film they've ever made.  Yes, it had its moments of cheese, but I enjoyed it nonetheless.

Though the Hand sounds like a bunch of pretenders to the Shadow throne.

By the end, I was about ready to shoot the TV set if anyone said "We live for the one, we die for the one." again.

And that "Swedish meatballs" bit wasn't even funny the first time.

I gotta agree the entire concept of the Hand sounds like crap. The entire b5 series just aboutwa based on how for thousands of years the Shadows started galatic wars here and there as they viewed Chaos as a manner of evalotionary change. Now it's "oh yea b4 the Shadows now we forgot to mention about These badasses???

Hmm lesse:

First ones leave the galaxy after getting tired of warring with each other and leave the Vorlons and Shadows to manage the plan.....finally we join up and whip that *** ,..get them to all leave,..now the "Hand".

I think a script writer was watching a bit too much Anime

As to the B5 static shot. Also I noticed watching it again today,..I never really saw ANY other normal b5 ships. I got a feeling Sci Fi couldn't get the models the original series used and just did new things and used a static image for babylon 5 itself. I know it rotated slowly b4,..but I focused on one spot with a colored square on the rotating section...it didn't move at all the entire shot...in the series b5's rotation was noticable.

Weird, because on the Babylon project forum a bunch of folks were saying how it was rotating _very_ slowly.

On the whole "The Hand" mess, I'm thinking that they're like Boskone. (the lensman series)

Overall their probably a little older then the Shadows and Vorlons and take the "who do you serve" bit to the extreme.

I don't think The Hand is nearly as powerful as their minions claim. Consider that a box of grenades can completely destroy one of their big-@ss ships.

Yeah, but that wasn't a Hand ship, just a toy given to the minion races...

Actually the right type and number of grenades inside the dead center,..makes since. Note that they pulled the pod in at about the same spot the ships weapons all fired from. I'd say it most likely would have set off the weapons systems. Like Gkar stated,..those would be a prime target as they're quite volitile.

We have to consider that this is from the same writer who, in the B5 pilot "The Gathering", had a relatively tiny explosion knock a spinning multi-billion-ton space station about 45 degress off axis... and NOT tear itself to shreds in the process. JMS may enjoy science fiction, but he's not a very good science fiction writer.

Blastphemy!!

Personally I think Babylon 5 and everything in between has been some of the best Sci-Fi shown on TV.  Legend of the Rangers is just an extension of that...and while its a bit perhaps stiff at the moment, if it goes to series it'll definately improve.

I was impressed with the movie completely.

Actually, he's a pretty decent science fiction writer, with the emphsis on fiction.  Sci-fi refers to a style of writing where the situations that we face today are amplified inot a future setting.  The science part is honestly not as important as the fiction part, it never has been and never will be.  From Frankenstien to 2001, the point is the fiction, not the science.  If you read them for the science, switch to tech manual, it'll be more entertaining for you.

Exactly. He's really a space-opera writer who thinks he's a hard SF writer. Whenever he tries to integrate actual science into his stories, he almost always flubs it.

He also has an extremely ham-handed sense of humor, but that's another peeve entirely...

Ummm b5 is meant as a space opera. And exactly what has he done to point out without a doubt true science and not science fiction?

More still...all this flowing from them using grenades on a lifepod to take out a ship? heh

Hell you have any idea how much damage a pod that can hold one human body comfortably, then filled with a person and crammed with as many modern FRAG grenades would do?? And that's not only modern not a few 100 years from now grenades,..but FRAGs. They're only meant to throw shrapnel at you.

how said they were FRAGS?  the larger grenades now a days can do some pretty large damage.  HE grenades I think that is what they are called I dunno.

I liked it...B5 has always been a little different from most sci-fi movies and doesn't try to explain all with abunch of scientific BS.
It's a fact.  Stupid people have stupid children.  If you are stupid, don't have sex.  If you insist on having sex.  Have sex with animals.  If you have sex with an animal.  Make sure the animal is smarter than you are.  Just encase of some biological fluke you and the animal have offspring, they won't be as stupid as you are.   One more thing.  Don't assume the animal is protected.  If the animal has a condom, or if female some interuterian device, insist they wear it.  Help stop this mindless mindlessness.  Keep your stupidty to yourself.  This message was brought to you by the Committee of Concerned Citizens that are Smarter than You are.

I liked the Omegas with the rotating sections.  Hell, it's probably WORSE to have those things than to just tye the crew down.

You'd have to design those rotationing sections not for zeegee, not for a single gravity direction, but up to three!
