I want Romney to win the Republican primary. From what I've heard, far more articulate than his opponents.

I want Obama to win the Democratic primary. Again, far more articulate than his opponents.

We'll see from there.

Am I the only one who thinks that electing president a bloodthirsty Spartan king from a fetishistic, comic-book-derived orgy of violence is a horrible, horrible idea? Am I just a crotchety old traditionalist?

Nay!

I'm curious as to the real results, so forgive me for editing out Leonidas and resetting the poll. Everyone please vote again (I voted Guliani). :D

I didn't believe that so many would pick him.  Thanks for the vote fix.

"...The quintessential quality of our age is that of dreams coming true. Just think of it. For centuries we have dreamt of flying; recently we made that come true: we have always hankered for speed; now we have speeds greater than we can stand: we wanted to speak to far parts of the Earth; we can: we wanted to explore the sea bottom; we have: and so  on, and so on: and, too, we wanted the power to smash our enemies utterly; we have it. If we had truly wanted peace, we should have had that as well. But true peace has never been one of the genuine dreams - we have got little further than preaching against war in order to appease our consciences. The truly wishful dreams, the many-minded dreams are now irresistible - they become facts." - 'The Outward Urge' by John Wyndham

"The very essence of tolerance rests on the fact that we have to be intolerant of intolerance. Stretching right back to Kant, through the Frankfurt School and up to today, liberalism means that we can do anything we like as long as we don't hurt others. This means that if we are tolerant of others' intolerance - especially when that intolerance is a call for genocide - then all we are doing is allowing that intolerance to flourish, and allowing the violence that will spring from that intolerance to continue unabated." - Bren Carlill

Re: Presidential Candidate Poll
MacGyver!

Actually, I think the whole thing's kind of pointless. Hillary will win the Democrat primary, and she'll lose the election, unless there's a strong female republican vote that'll swing her way (which I doubt). I suppose I'd probably like Obama to win, based on his policies and his fairly non religious outlook on life (at least, as non religious as I think you can get as an American politician these days), and because it'd be funny watching Howard squirm on the off chance they're in office together (I dread to think). Giuliani will probably win if he gets the republican primary.

Not to say that McCain isn't a formidable candidate either.

Guiliani stopped over in Indianapolis a while ago, and I've got to say I was fairly impressed.  If either of them win the primary, I'll be voting for them.

Re: Presidential Candidate Poll
I'd go for Romney. He seems to be able to work well with both parties (as a Republican in Mass., and the political polarization is a real turn off for me, so being able to do this is very important), has a good track record, is smart about economics, has a variety of experiences, is articulate, is able to spell out his plans rather than just say he has some (yes, Edwards and Kerry, I am looking at you when I say that) and has a refreshing lack of scandals and skeletons in his closet.

Obama.

I got dragged into a political discussion during a math help class including my teacher and two other people, and we started discussing the likely politicians who would win.

Clinton is a *****, anyway.

Also, the snuffleupagus thing is freaking old.
