Aside from hyperspace travel, you missed the most impressive feat, even if we did copy it. (If we copied it, we could have eventually found out about & built it ourselves, given enough time.)

Kind of wierd that they discovered jump drives before shields. IMO it will be thousands of years before we discover FTL travel, if at all, although I'm OK with a space game taking poetic license with that. It's very interesting how in the first few missions of FS1 you go without any shields. In some ways not having shields makes the game more interesting; you can't count on recharges to make you last forever, and every ship is more fragile which makes the game more intense.
What does :V: mean when they say Terran society is based on Greek philosophy?
No takers on that? I thought that these internet forums were full of philosophers. I really want to see how someone could find good use for ancient Greek thinking in the year 2300.
