Hi noob here, pls help ... Cutscenes worries in FS2
Hi guys, just discovered FS2 Open and amazed by all the work you guys do to keep it and these forums running. Kinda restores your faith in human nature :D as well as looking absolutely beautiful.

I wondered if anyone could help me with getting cutscenes to run in FS2. I've used the online installer from scratch (ie no previous retail version) and I've managed to get the mediavps files working by pointing the installer at them as a mod. There is a file in my freespace2 directory called FS2OGGcutscenepack.vp but I can't get it to run -- when I load up the game and try to get it to play the intro, it says it's "unable to play movie file". I'm also getting Microsoft Sam a good deal, so would be good to know how to load up multi-voice-pack.vp in the root directory as well.

If these problems have been covered somewhere else, I'm really sorry -- I did search the forums, read the FAQ etc, but without success!

Any help would be really appreciated, thanks. Keep up the good work, you ppl rock... :)

Are you using Direct3D or OpenGL? I think the movies only work if you're in OpenGL mode (change using Launcher).

Look at that. The guy with 2 posts not only knows ****, but is also willing to help.

It must be because it's Easter or something. Miracles abound.

What the **** does his postcount have to do with anything?

I hope I don't alienate too many people by saying this, but seriously, for a forum that desperately needs new blood, it sure does its best to chase away newbies. Postcounts illustrate nothing more than how much time you spend on the forums, not how much you contribute, or how much you know.

Yeah, there are some people here who have passed 10 posts per day, who have yet to give anyone good advice.  But don't mind blackdove, I think he more meant that it's nice to have intelligent noobs as opposed to idiots, like this.

:lol:
@AustinZ & riddley:
Multiple targets inbound, begin sensor lock... commence plasma core insertion, power up photon beam cannons Beta and Charlie.  Sensor lock now acquired.  Open Fire!
:welcome:
Welcome to Hard Light Productions. Exits are to your rear. In case of emergency, Flamethrowers can be found under your seats. They're empty though, so you'll have to use them as cudgels, but you might have better luck trying the rusty shotguns in the weapon closets.

If, for some strange, as-yet-unknown reason you find yourself crawling through one of the nearby airducts, you are quite possibly going to run into a shivan. Five legs, glowing red eyes. You cant miss 'em. It's probably just Carl, though. Give him whatever food you have on you, and he should leave you alone. If you have none, take comfort in the fact that your death will, at least, be quick (if not painless).

There are Plasma rifles located in the forward storage lockers, however these can only be accessed by an Admin, :v: , God, or Hyperintelligent shade of the color blue. Be warned that the door to the Command Bridge is guarded by subspatial claymore mines.

The SCP is all that is good. Mention efF esS thr33 at your own peril. And have a nice day.
