This flying saucer is featured in the OVA "Neo Getter Robo vs Shin Getter Robo" (2000/2001). There isn't any info about it, I couldn't even get the name, the scale changes dramatically in the OVA, from what it seems to be a radius of 200m to be as big as the city itself, I'll change the radius to either 400m or 800m. I am not sure if it's powered by Getter Rays or If it's energy source is Plasma based.

It has a main beam cannon located on the bottom of the ship, complemented with 4 vacuum devices around it. It also possess 8 AAA beam cannons located on the side on ship, the saucer can start rotating to allow rapid AAA fire (like a gatling gun style).

Each turret located on the bottom has 2 doors which should open when the turret is charging fire, but I wasn't able to get to work the Animation Code for "turret firing", the animation works with other types like "afterburner", but I couldn't get it to work with the proper trigger.

Aside from that, the turrets on the bottom, should use translation, but it isn't something important.

Damn, that looks amazing!

How do you get these things done so fast???

AFAIK it was an alien craft that crashed on Earth after the DINO Empire went into Hibernation or something. Even THEY didn't know the origin or name for it.

They simply explored it and tried to figure out some tech and made enough repairs to get it semi-functional again (ie Hover, weaponry), and hooked up their Emporer's corpse up to it and he regenerated into a semi-cybernetic hybrid. Half Dino-Half Alien tech.

I think at that point he started to understand how the ship "worked" and it started to repair itself, but since I only saw that OVA once I don't remember.

I forget to say the saucer has a shield.

Most of my modelling troubles are caused by proportions or by the fact that I lack some reference for the back of the robots. This saucer it's a symmetric model, I usually model it entirely, see what the final mesh would look like, and then I start working with a fraction, the UV was my only trouble, though is really simple, I couldn't decide which pattern choose for those glowing symbols, in the series there seems to be 2: one seen in the intro, a really simple patter that glows changing between colours, which seems to be used for emergency. The other is when the ship is latter reactivated, this time the patter is much more complex and it uses a yellow non-animated glow.

There is some UV missing here, but I didnt' want to make another bitmap, otherwise the pattern gets stretched and even more repetitive:

I also designed the inner platforms, so they could lower, as seen in the fourth episode, the upper part becomes something like a colosseum:

There is also the door where King Goru comes out, along the 4 beam turrets, but that's something that's only seen in the OVA, is very much like something of the moment that wouldn't be used otherwise. The Vacuum devices seemed to also be useless, they only could catch people, kids to be more exact, not even small cars.

Yes, that's very much like the info the OVA tells the viewer: "Alien Technology"

I guess it doesn't matter though I get the feeling GO just rehashed the idea of the "Imperial Energizer" from Getter Robo G.

Dr (what's his name), "The Learnered One" of the Pandemonium Empire made a big saucer/fortress and Getter G used the Stoner Sunshine fired into the hole that Hayato Jin made on the inside to blow it to hell. Of course the version I saw was dubbed in English. :)

Aside from the Robot, I also loved one of the upper level villians ("Colonel Furer") Space Nazi Hitler!

Where exactly are these models coming from? Would I be right (or very insulting) in assuming that this 'Getter' stuff is a Gigantor type tv cartoon?
Watch out for the Guns! They'll getcha!

Tetsujin-28 (Gigantor) was the first "Giant Robot" anime series, in the other hand Mazinger was the first "Super Robot" series (unless Gigantor would have a pilot instead of a remote control).

The anime series called "Getter Robo", was originally aired in japan between 1974 and 1975, though it could date back to 1970, depending on the Manga's release date. It's creator is Go Nagai (Mazinger's creator) and Ken Ishikawa.

I didn't know about it, but after seeing the Texas Mack for first time in SRW, I get a "stereotype" feeling. You need to see some of the MS in G Gundam, some of the desings are laughable.

I was personally embarrassed by Texas Mack (both the Robot and it's main pilot - the guy, the girl was ok)

However the Shot of Shin Getter in front of the White House and the American Flag was cool.

G Gundam is full of that (and I didn't see a single episode):

Quote
There is a following of G Gundam fans who liked its out of worldliness and willingness to play up exaggerated national stereotypes for comedic effect.

That line defines G Gundam perfectly.

I need to see Gekiganger III, it's a meta-anime that heavily spoof Getter Robo, G included, the Shine Spark among other things, they even parody Musashi's death, like at the end of Getter Robo.

If you want I can send you the complete file but on Youtube it's in three parts...

I remember the first time I saw Nadesico and they did a Gekiganger clip I was like WTF ? That's.....That's Getter Robo! (the makers paid Homage to Go Nagai).

(Holy crap I didn't know they added Gekiganger to the SWR series?)

l8tr!

No thanks, I'll see the OVA later.

I guess I talked too much. I'll focus on modelling something from that series, probabily I'll also model the Getter 1 Tomahawk and it's Machine Gun (my Getter 1 model needs a redesing, but it won't happen soon).

Those mechs combine both attacks from real robots and super robots, the Gekiganger Flare and the Rocket Punch are Super Robot attacks, it could be pretty useful to have one, so I don't need to model another robot everytime I want to test a new attack.

26 Episodes, 1 Movie, and 4 Manga Volumes, I don't have any hope of survive...(I'll better focus on the movie)

No, Gekiganger III is one of the many series that hasn't still been added to SRW, there are many well known series that aren't still in, take Full Metal Panic and Gundam SEED as examples, both 2002 series, and they weren't featured until late 2005 I believe.

My bad...

When I went to youtube to type Gekiganger SRWJ popped up (Double Gekigan Flare). I just watched it, it was Akito and Gai in their Aestevalis doing the same attack as the OVA, I misinterprited the title...

That's one of the team attacks I am interested, the other 0G and Artillery frames can perform a similar but triple attack, which is done in the series, though the attack partially fails.

The Texas Mack.... :lol::

The polycount for the Getter UFO is at 18500 Polys, anyways the polycount is ok, as long I don't have conversion problems or in-game problems:
