I think that's what it's called... It's that movie with the robot spy plane (ED or something) goes rogue and pilots want to kill it... Then the main pilot starts nine wars in nine countries to save his girlfriend... :doubt:

Am I the only one who thinks it sucks ass? All my friends were addicted to it (some of them still are even now).

I'v never seen it before....But it sounds like it does suck.I mean the story line sounds like a cartoon.

Meh, if you ignore the crappy storyline, the action and effects aren't bad. With a better storyline it could be alright, I mean it has a decent enough premise! And the planes are awesome!

I thought that part where ED sets on fire the fuel cloud was stupid. Just... No.

Don't. Seriously, just don't bother. Even if you have some masochistic love for terrible movies, it's not worth it.

I saw it.  It's not great cinema art, but it's fun to watch.

What I like best is the fact that in the beginning, the CO is very interested in protecting pilots and their families from combat losses, but in the end attempts to kill his own pilots.  It's an interesting irony of machine becoming more human than man.  It's also interesting what happens when the CO is arrested.  That message is prophetic...

Plus, the flying is cool...

This year, both Groundhog Day and the State of the Union Address occurred during the same week.  This is an ironic juxtaposition of events--one involves a meaningless ritual in which we look to a creature of little intelligence for prognostication, while the other involves a groundhog.

Which one...Stealth or Top Gun?  Both are inaccurate...just that Stealth is fantastic in its innacuracies.  Its "the near future" so you can get away with it I guess.  I haven't seen all of Stealth...but I'll probably rent it one day when I'm really bored.

Why would an airforce design their stealth fighters if they had an AI version? It can pull more Gs, doesnt need a life support system or cockpit (which for plot reasons this one did) I dont think there will be many more ultra modern piloted fighters.

IIRC, the reason they gave was that they didn't have time to completely retrofit the cockpit.

It was a decent, if pretty stupid, movie. I enjoyed the fighter combat scenes - don't get to see much of those these days.

I haven't seen Stealth yet, but reading this thread I think I won't risk my stomach... but... well, I'll try to get it... then I'll tell you what I think...

Obviously, I've seen Top Gun. Some parts were great, but the MiG-28/reskinned F-5 thingy was quite meh, like the F-5's cannons firing from the air intakes instead from the nose and a F-14 avoiding cannon fire à la FreeSpace. Oh, and also the super-strong F-14s that could resist to a lot of cannon fire was quite meh. But those small errors don't make me vomit.

I vomited when in Iron Eagle the protagonist (sorry, I don't remember the names of the characters) leveled half of Lybia by himself with only one F-16 (I don't even remember if it is set in Lybia or wherever else... :nervous:).

Ah, the thing was called EDI, not ED.... Mah.

But I really do not think that starting wars across the world to save one's girlfriend was the right choice, or feasible for that matter... Pff.

Hehe, actually, that thread reminded me of Stealth. :P

Ugh. I remember watching Stealth last year with my housemates. One of them's an aircraft fanatic, and she and I were bouncing criticisms of the movie back and forth nearly the whole way through. In fact, we coldn't actually discuss the stupid parts fast enough and ended up with three hours' backlog by the time it finished.

I think it's possible to enjoy that movie, if you know absolutely nothing about the subject. Otherwise, it's the worst load of Hollywood dog**** I've seen since... gimme a sec... there has to be something worse...

It was almost like someone had taken a Dale Brown novel, taken out any accuracy, then applied the Hollywood filter to the AI. Stealth sure as hell ain't no military thriller, yet it steals a lot from them. It's the usual 'little lost robot' crap Hollywood churns out when they discover there's some area of sci fi they haven't rectally violated yet.

Oh, and the special effects were what someone once referred to as 'visual masterbation'.
