Freespace 2 File Structure .pdf
Just a simple thing, but I thought it might help new users have more of an idea of the way the directories are ordered in FreeSpace 2.

I may change the colour coding, since it isn't that accurate.

Re: Freespace 2 File Structure .pdf
I might alter it a bit over the next few days, list what type of file go where etc, though there'll be duplications, since a lot of folders take .pcx, .ani, .dds, .tga etc.

I can also put a note at the bottom about Mod Folders, with some more detail about them I suppose. :)

Great start, but it's a little confusing. It looks like you're telling people to put mods in the data folder. Please try to make it clear that Mods have their own data folders.

Oddly enough that was what I was just tinkering with.Though I thought the arrow from the Mod Folder and the fact it says that the routine Data folder held retail files might be a hint. All it really lacked was a descirption of the Data folders relation to the Mod folder.

good start. definitely needs more information though. perhaps a comparison between retail directory structure and your standard scp install.

Re: Freespace 2 File Structure .pdf
Thing is, I'm concerned about making the whole thing too complex. It's designed just to give a top-down glance of where things are stored, since most campaigns come as .vp files, and only need to go into the Mod Folder, I'm sort of uninclined to start going into too much detail without good reason, it's all too easy to start off with a file-structure and end up trying to make a Wiki in chart form, as it were.

To be honest, I'm trying to limit it to stuff that can be useful and not make it look so complex at first glance that it scares people off. Once you know the file system, it's pretty easy to understand, my own feelings is that the chart should reflect that :)
