Very good attention to detail, adding lasers and such - but needs a little refining. The whole scene looks a little cramped, try spacing it out more.

The beams and lasers aren't that bad, they just need a little work - are you using Photoshop for the render? If so, and if you kept the beams etc. on seperate layers, make liberal use of the blur tool and you would have one sweet render there

But, I've just noticed, the lasers have little circles at each end... Not really Photoshop, I don't think... Anyway, check out Thunder's website for a good beam tutorial

I don't like criticising things other people have worked hard on, and I hope it came across as constructive

Good work.

Yes I know... my effects suck... none of it is in photoshop, everything is in lightwave, everything...

Its just that when I made a yellow beam without glows and stuff, it looks awesome, but in diff colors it looked like crap, so i'm working on finding a good setting for each of the colors.

I had the same problems whilst using just lightwave, along with the fact the volumetric light kept disappearing for no apparent reason... I eventually gave up and did it in Photoshop.

Yea well I did this in lightwave... it didn't have an FS2 look to that kinda beam tho so I didn't use that for fs renders...

A temp fix for that pic up top will be uploaded shortly

All you would have to do with the beam is blur it a little and make the levels brighter.   And the turrets fire I would redo again and then the engine glows, but overall its okay. What can I say at least its not repetitive like some of Setekh's renders; no offense

OK whats wrong with the engines glows huh? they are straight out of FS and they look great in my opinion. And WHAT turret fire? And the beam is bright as it is...

Screw em. That's a great set of renders, IMO.

Is that a Sobek up there? I like the fact that it looks huge, compared to the fighter. It doesn't look terribly 'busy' to me.

Make more. I always need more wallpapers.

Yup its the Sobek... I know I made it look big, its the angle and the lighting =)
Thanks for the compliment...  I appreciate it, I kinda overreacted in the last post.

Thats the point, engine glows ingame look better because there animated in a sense. Turret fire from laser turrets they look a bit odd in shape and as for the beam it should be a bit blurry as I said and the white on either side of the blue needs to be a little thicker...okay youre renders good overall but these are just some of the things I'm recommend need more attention...thats all I said.

I have to agree, the top one does have suckage potential... but I adore the other two! I'm really more into moody, atmospheric, quiet renders than big action scenes. Fact is, with a giant blue bumpmapped Sobek gliding silently overhead, anything else just detracts from it.

Thanks... I can do a similar effect for other ships if you want...  with a red nebula for shivan atmosphere and stuff. The nebula is done in lightwave(thx KMN) without any textures, so it's really easy to change the color.
