Wow, feels like ages since I was tangling with conversion issues!
Anyway, my asteroid base doesn't convert correctly.

Max v7
Convertor for v6
Single circa 900 editable-poly object (no subobjects). Editable mesh crashes Max.
Converted with detail and glow options
Multi-Sub Object tile textures (diffuse)
The missing faces are those using the "cruiser04" texture. I tried replacing the textures with a single (IIRC AWAC tile) got all the faces but it doesn't render correctly in either FRED (just about works) or FS (CTD). Appears as though some of the faces have been flipped (max terminology). Max doesn't complain when it converts.
Haven't tried the old Max - 3ds - cob - pof yet but and I don't really want to either.
Haven't tried the specimen Max scene yet but I was curious what everyone thought.
