LOL I'm a criticizer

That would be inaccurate =)  the explosion would get to you before the light would, decimated you before you even knew what happend =)

But actually that is awesome =) Great Job

Hey in the blasted movie the explosion went through planets in about 1/4 of a second... light takes a lot longer to traverse a planet =)

So maybe the movie is wrong, but thats what I'm basing my hypothesis on =)

The light would reach you long before the shockwave, Dragonclaw.

Of course you'd be dead before you could registerd the visible light. When that light hit you, you'd also be hit with all sorts of nasty stuff from the upper end of the EM spectrum.

About the render- a skosi bit crowded. Take out the two capships, or make 'em smaller, fighting with a beam or two in the distance. The HercII could stand to be either bigger and offset or smaller. A render should have a focus, be it the supernova, the big ships, or the fighter. This composition looks a little crunched.

I have to agree with KillMeNow on some aspect, that light travels faster than the explosion; but the best comparison I would say is Earth to the Sun; takes light 8 minutes to reach us; so when a supernova occurs it takes many, many minutes to scour the system. and the only reason the V dudes made it this way is so your not watching 10 minutes for a supernova to occur.

Quantum theory, which describes the behaviour of matter on the subatomic level, predicts that pairs of elementary particles, matter and antimatter, can appear in unpredictable places and then annihilate each other. According to Hawking's calculation, the extreme gravitational force of a black hole could produce such pairs just outside its event horizon. If so, one particle might be dragged in and the other escape.

Technically speaking  your right in some context but in another context your not…

Not to nitpick, but that is incorrect. Whilst pairs of virtual particles can form on the edge of a black hole, it is only when one half the pair appears within the event horizon and the other doesn't, that one gets sucked in. The one that survived didn't do so because it moved faster than light, it was just a touch outside the danger zone. Of course such a particle immediatley becomes real and the black hole loses mass equal to that of the remaining particle.

Now, if you want to find something that moves (apparently) faster than light, look at gravity. Increase the mass of an object, and its gravitational pull on objects all over the universe increases, instantly. Likewise, the effect is instant. If gravity is transfered by a particle or wave--like the strong, weak and magnetic forces are--then that particle/wave must move faster than light. This is one of the most difficult and troubling things about resolving quantum theory and relativity theory.

Simply put....the entire concept's bases off watching the nova Ceni scene. Hence the Screenie background.

yuhp, but I want to add: there's something that goes faster than light, it's... light   Italian scientists have made a photon (I think it's the right particle?) go faster than light. I think there was like a gap in time between when it was supposed to appear and when it did appear.
And, I'm happy V didn't make the nova in real time, coz it wouldn't have taken hours, it would have take days

Dunno about the photon thing (the only thing I know about photons is the photon torpedo   ), but I do know that it takes 8 minutes for light from the Sun to reach Earth. (Speed of light is FAST 'cause from here to the Sun is a LONG way off...)

Yes venom2506 is right...photon particles make up light...

mikhael I would say that these elementary particles are faster than light, because photons only escape the inner and outer photonsphere (which usually pull them in if they strike at certain angles and thus place them into orbit) and theory dictates the possibility of escaping the egrosphere; but that is only theory.

I read in a Terry Pratchett book about the speed of light. I think it was in "The Science of Discworld" Anyway, he said something that cracked me up! Something like: Darkness is faster than light. Why? Because when light is coming, it'll have to move REALLY FAST, out of the way... Something like that. Well... I thought it was funny.
I have returned... Again...
