now is it crashing or just seemingly not doing anything for a very very long time? cause the way we have our geometry set up currently auto-facet smoothing is an n^2 operation, though I did a bit of work today on a universal geometry format that should be able to do things like that a **** ton faster.

Most of the time it fails with a standard application failure dialog box.
As long as its using the cpu at 60 -100% I don't mind waiting for it to finish. I'm sorta used to it taking its time on some conversions.

Of these last two builds, the first one has no problems for me, but the second one has the white overlay problem described in mantis bug http://ferrium.org/mantis/view.php?id=32

Unlike the latest sig build though, the second one doesn't crash outright when loading any POF.

OGL Thingie:

OpenGL Version is "2.0.1"
Vender is "NVIDIA Corporation"
Renderer is "GeForce 7900 GT/PCI/SSE2/3DNOW!"

Originally I thought some textures weren't being displayed, but on closeup look the textures were there faint with a blue/grey cast


3 models tested - except where it crashed on model 2
July15 00:34:30 ----- (1) textures messed up - (2+3) load and save ok
July15 00:07:45 ----- (1) textures ok - (2+3) load and save ok
July14 18:02:02 ----- (1+2) application crash on load
July14 06:57:26 ----- (1) textures messed up - (2) App crash writing shield collision tree
July13 06:19:53 ----- (1) textures messed up - (2) Full lockup on model load - machine reset.

ok, I guess hades is talking about the render bug, not the 'crash for no apparent reason' bug.

ok, lets see if the render bug is related to glowmapping or shine mapping,
if you have the render bug with this one, then it's a glow mapping bug, if you don't it's a shine mapping bug.

Yep, render bug is present with that one.
As I said in the mantis bug, it looks like it's just rendering a white overlay over the tops of textures that don't have their own glowmap, and then it renders one of the other maps glowmap over the top of this white overlay.

Load and save ok
Texture problem became very clear on that one.
The orange in the previous pic became very white. In another model the dark textures still show up but the lighter textures disappear (to white)

For multi-part turret autogen - should PCS2 add the firing point and normal, or do you need to do that part yourself?

create lights named TurretNN-FpUU

Where TurretNN is the 01, 02, etc - UU is unused - it assigns Firepoint # in order it's found

position the lights where you want the firepoints to be, and glue them to the TurretNN-arms subobject.  the light positions with be the fp positions - the normal will be the vector between the geometry center of TurretNN-arms and the average position of the firepoints

ie if the geometric center of the object is 0,0,0  fp 1 is at 1,0,0.5 fp2 is at 1,0,-0.5 then normal will be normalize((1,0,0.5+1,0,-0.5)/2-0,0,0) = 1,0,0

(normalize takes a vector and makes it magnitude 1)

cause it doesn't break for me. I tried it already.

Works perfectly at my end. :D
All properly gloweymapped and no white textures at all now. :)

(Assuming shine maps were still disabled in this build for glowmap testing purposes?)
