well the header doesn't tell us anything the model comments is were the converter tells us who made it.
and sense it's blank try to just save as pof, it should recompile it.

To the best of my knowledge the Ravana was a Max pof exporter conversion rather than any version of PCS.

Is it possible to get PCS2 to recalculate stuff like sortnorms/bounding boxes and radii? That could really help the people who have trouble when using the pof exporter, because they could probably fix most of the known issues the exporter has by just recalculating all that in PCS2.

well if you open it and then save it, it will probably recalculate it, as from what I've seen the only converters PCS2 trusts would be it'self (current version of it's self) the most recent version of PCS1 and BSPGEN V's pof exporter. note, the experimental build doesn't trust _anything_ and the normal build doesn't trust the experimental build.

Indeed, the Ravana was compiled using the 3DS Max exporter, which sometimes produces rock-solid geometry, but sometimes it doesn't.

That's why I've suggested a "regenerate collision data"-button before.

well, like I said, you don't need to tell it to, it will, just save as pof and it will redo all the BSP data, if you want to make sure it does erase all model comments, save, open and save again.

PCS2 likes .scn's/.cob's made by itself.. and truespace likes the .cobs - but NOT the .scn's - there are some required chunks for .scn i don't like.. so once i get conversion all a-ok i'll work on that

be advised that when saving to .cob i HAVE to do what PCS1 did and have a root group that owns everything else - it is an ABSOLUTE REQUIREMENT of truespace to have a root chunk (so maybe i should go through and reparent everything to be a child of detail0 ... i think i will do that later)

.COB requires the first group specified in the file to be the root group... i can't (sanely) generate the groups in that order unfortunately

which is why i'll have to get .scn working because then we don't have to worry about that :D

the cob PCS2 generates should be valid to the point that it can be directly imported back, as long as it produces valid COBs that's fine, but I was under the assumption that the root geometry was the first model and everything had to be a child of that.

it does... it's a ***** to generate valid .cob's because .cob's requirements

1) Only one root node (group)
2) root group MUST be first group encountered in file


this is why I want to use .scn - i just have to figure out what the "additional mandatory chunks" are for a scene ('SCEN'... i think 'PHAS' may be mandatory as well, i'll **** with it tilll i get it)

.scn can have multiple roots (each lod is it's own root, each debris has own root, insignia and shields can be root nodes as well)

Wow - it seems to have worked perfectly first time & every time, and it does shields too! :D

I was also very surprised at the constellation of lights the orion had around it, before I realised that they were - path data, engine glows, subsystems, turret firepoints, submodel centres - can PCS2 really autogenerate all that when converting  from cob to pof? If so, that's incredible. :D

Hm...this latest build caughs up a win32 exception error and charshes whenever I try to open the the HLT Hecate (captial02t-01.pof .. or something like that).

Also the latest experimental build...
