So, i've been on other forums lately (gamespot in particular) and it just came back to me how much i would like it if you could put pictures in your avatar or siggy on HLP  . I don't know what forum I should put this in, or if i should PM an admin about it...so i just put it here. So, what do you think? why don't they allow pictures in your sig or avatar anyway? I just want a place to put my xfire miniprofile...

Images are enabled by default in SMF but disabled on purpose here. I for one hope that images are never enabled on HLPBB, they are childish. And this topic belongs to the support board.

I was talking about images in signatures. Avatars are given to admins only and project badges to hosted project members. We already allow too much text in signatures (IMHO) that makes many sigs unbearably large. Which is also why I've ticked "Don't show users' signatures." setting in my profile.

exactly...so if you don't like pictures in siggies, then they can add an option that not only lets you hide siggies but another one that can hide pictures.

You are free to code up the required modification and submit it to the SMF modifications database. When that happens and the mod actually works without bugs, we might consider it should there actually be more than a handful of people wanting images in sigs. (Don't see that happening here though. )

Signature pictures = stupid.

I for one, like occasionally perusing over peoples signatures. Pictures would just ruin that experience by not only being very distractive, but by using a one by five inch area to convey a two word phrase. They just take up space so you have to scroll farther. The only reason I have one on GW is out of spite. And I don't usually go on there.

We can't set our custom titles(that's a You Earned It formula...that works well )but we all would like to have avatars, even smaller than the ones you Administrators use.

I agree, but there could be avatars. If the site has problems, we can always add a link for the pic rather than ULing it.

I like everything the way it is.

Having avatars makes them less 'special' and also, some of the forums allowing pictures in signatures are just stupid... There are HUGE pictures in them and we might have stuff like their wallpaper in the sig.

Avatars I wouldn't mind, but, as many other people have stated: no pics in siggys. This is a very bad idea... especially as some are complaining even now about how large some of these text-only sigs are becoming. 


With pics, sigs would, on average, be as large or larger than LGM's... and that's not something we wish to see.
