WarpMap 01 and S3TC (With solution)
When using mv_effects.vp I get the "cannot find WarpMap 01 anim file" bug, the game runs fine until something tries to warp in/out.

Apparently this is because I don't have the S3TC or Mesa drivers so my card can't read .eff files.  I am using a really old NVidia Riva TNT2 card but cannot find the drivers on the S3 site or elsewhere.  Could someone tell me where to find the drivers or how to have FS2 not load that file? I've tried removing it from the VP but apparently it still looks for it.

Buying a new card is an option but like I said most of the other stuff works fine so I don't see the point for 1 incompatible file for 1 game.

------------------

So it turns out I was wrong; deleting the WarpMap01.eff and WarpMap02.eff does work but you must unpack the vp first or weird things happen.  If you are getting this error then you will need QuickVP or some other VP editor to unpack the mv_effects.vp and remove WarpMap01.eff and WarpMap02.eff from data/effects (and the rest of the animation files for the .eff if you want).  If you wish you can repack the vp. Keeping a backup copy of the original is probably a good idea.  I noticed a few other .eff files in the vp but haven't had any problems with them (yet).

Actually, if anyone does know how to get S3TC to work on this card could you tell me? I think it'd be a better solution than just removing the files.

TNT2 is very old card.. perhaps you ought to get a bit better one?
