What I'm doing here is - having seen a lot of people saying the Meeting Hall should be a part of The Pub again, like it used to be, I thought I'd see what you guys thought in poll form. Is this place really flourishing as it is? Would it suffer if it were re-merged or would it make no real difference?

I've also seen that people think this place should be read only to members who haven't been OKd to contribute... which is a neat idea if it's possible.

So please, discuss. I'll give this a few days to run its course.

Remerge them.  Both places really need more activity, and frankly, if we get more debates going, I think we'll reenergize this place.

I think they should be separate, but read-only access should be granted for all.  However, the exception is that if you merge them, that would be fine, as long as the admins/moderators are very firm & quick about warning & otherwise taking action agains flamefests.  I agree things have quieted down here quite a bit, but I'd rather not see the action be ppl screaming at each other... I skip that crap anyways.

Fair enough jr2, I think being more practical in dealing with flamefests is a part of all this. When its been used, the "report post" function really is a useful tool there.

So far it's looking like re-merging wins the day... like I said I'll let this run a little while longer.

i would allow everybody to read the posts in the meeting hall. however, i suggest keeping the "posters" under control (i.e. limited acces)

And yeah, the read only version is possible - I checked with Goober - wasn't sure when I first posted the poll up. So that's an option as well - so far though it still looks like people would rather re-merge than anything else!
