Hello ! i'm new on this forum, but a old player of Freespace 2 ! thanks for the SCP and this forum 

(sorry for my poor English, french people inside)

For my first post, i explain you my problem :

I played with FS2 with a Sidewinder FF pro 1 for many years, very funny especially for the Forces !

recently i bouth a Sidewinder FF pro 2 for its usb connection and Vista compatibility (?? i'm not sure ??), i use Win XP  SP2 mini driver for the Sidewinder FF pro 2, its detected as a force feedback wheel 2.  No problem with games like Flight simulator or Crimson Skies, button work perfectly and forces too.

But into Freespace 2, the button are working good, but the force are worst than my old FF pro 1 !  no forces when a ship explode or into the Flak ! the only forces i have are for the afterburner and fire control !

Does anyone got the same problem than me ? or is it normal ?




Ps: I'm in charge for the FR traduction of Freespace 2 with the Help of Metal Destroyer.

Ok, i do some test, with a fresh install of Freespace 2 without SCP the problem is the same.  Another player of FS2 with the same Microsoft FF pro 2 got the problem too.  I think Freespace 2 have a problem with the USB force feedback devices, the FF pro 1 is on the gameport and work perfectly.

Yes, you're right. It's the USB sticks that have problems. It might be fixed in 3.7.0, but I'm not sure... Taylor will know.

Hrms.... I'm using a FF pro 2 and it's fine. No issues, the FFB is punchy, distinct, and registers on all 8 axies. The center tension even provides variable resistance based on what I'm doing. Couldn't ask for anything more.
I'm running XP SP2 and the original retail drivers. I've found that more recent drivers have issues with a lot of games: ffb turning off, and sometimes the center spring tension would loosen out all the way.
If you haven't tried it already, consider digging out the old 98 drivers and taking them for a spin.

Actually I use the win2000pro driver in my Gamecontroller 4.0 CD, after default driver from Win XP SP2, the problem is the same, all other games works perfectly (as crimson skies) with XP and 2000pro drivers. Only FS2 have a problem with the Forces.

To install 2000pro drivers, i manually install them by the device manager, because win XP auto install the XP default driver (Wheel Microsoft FF 2) when you use the Microsoft Gamecontroller 4.0.

My joystick FF pro 2 work correctly, button and axes and center spring work perfectly, my problem is between my old FF pro 1 and my new FF pro 2, the Force Feedback are not the same in FS2, the forces are worst than my old FF pro 1. No explosion or flak guns effects and other effect.

The only working effects are:

_afterburner
_firing effect (very little effect)
_when you pass a fighter very closed

Another FS2 french fan have the same problem than me with his Sidewinder FF pro 2.
