Uh...they could have used intrasystem jump drives...and these do not work through collapsed jump nodes.

Intersystem jumpdrives will have to be used in my campaign because all the sol system will be covered.
It would be cool to have a terra-vasudan facton tho'.
I need info on how the Terra-Vasudan faction would operate?
Cheers

Let me think.....

Sol offers the Vasudans part of Mars, or a terraformed moon... somewhere in the 'badlands'.  Pretty soon the Vasudans are being badly mistreated by the locals.  They set up a political party to campaign for reforms to protect them.

A few years later, war breaks out between Earth and some of the 'devolved' planets.  Earth attempts to force the Vasudans to fight for them.  the Vasudans refuse, and Earth kills a large number in a retaliatory attack  - claiming they are rebels.

This gains the Vasudans immense support, and they start to fight against Earth and Luna forces. Although the rebel force is badly defeated, they manage to hold onto the outer systems by using the asteroid field as a natural barrier.   An uneasy peace ensues.

When the GTVA taskforce - all Terran - arrives and starts negotiating with Earth, the Vasudans & rebels see this as a plot against them.  Rumours are spread that the GTVA taskforce is actually form the GTA, having massacred the Vasudans after the Lucifer was destroyed.... the rebel front begins to launch attacks aimed at capturing the advanced GTVA ships, and capturing all of Sol - to close it off again.

Just and idea, basically uses the idea that wars can be started by mistakes.... also has a good moral dilemma, as the Vasudan / Terran rebels are really the 'good guys', and the Earth faction is attempting to use the GTVA to destroy the rebels and hide their war crimes.

Or, simply have a scenario where the Terra-Vasudan rebels believe that the GTVA will bring the Shivans back (or even has already been conquered and taken over for an ambush), and aim to stop them.

Well Smart!

(just speculating here...)

1/ Escort a small transport / cruiser wing to the rebels to try and negotiate with the rebels... one ship is ambushed in the asteroid field, and the survivors have to be protected.

2/Protect the GTD ? through the asteroid field into enemy space

3/Escort a Triton deploying one of the taskforces few Meson bombs/mines to an ambush point in Jupiter (nebula) / asteroid field, then detonate the bomb when an enemy ship arrives.

4/Protect a Terran Alliance convoy carrying a (notorious) general.  The transmissions form the rebel attackers raise concerns over the nature of the conflict.

5/Capture an enemy comms station / base, posing as a wing of Valkyries / flying stealth Pegasus' to fly in and destroy a cruiser (with helios)

6/Double cross a Terran Alliance cruiser to capture it and interrogate the commander

etc

(based on the first idea I posted).

Nice ideas Aldo m8!

That would explain how they got to Ross 128 and left Capella.  However, if you read up on them in the tech room, they're mentioned to have the ability to traverse nodes too unstable for Terran and Vasudan ships.

Should i set a limit on the amount of tech the taskforce takes with them to Sol?
And if so, and how many fighters can a hectate class destroyer hold?

Yeah, limit it to tech used in the final mission of FS2.  As for how many fighters a Hecate can hold...I think its 150.  You might want to consult the tech room or ships.tbl to be sure.

Maybe they should send an Orion? If Sol was suffering some, the sight of a Hecate cruising into the system might upset the locals... an Orion is universally familiar as a symbol of Terra. And if Sol forces vaped it, I think perhaps command would loose less sleep over a lost Orion than a lost Hecate.

Are there even that many Vasudans in Sol.  I thought there were only 6(Epsilon Wing   )

Good Idea though, I only wish I had the time or the drive to help you with it.
