In one of the Silent Threat missions, the player fights pirates trying to steal cargo from an installation. Considering how common pirates are in user-made campaigns, I think it would be at least worthwhile to start a page on them so people know that they "exist" in canon FS. Once I get home, I'm going to search for the specifics and create a Pirate page under Universe > Groups, which includes organizations such as the NTF, SOC, etc. Any objections?

I'll get around to it. Maybe not today. But I would also like to eventually have an entry on all those ships that aren't listed in the Wiki's ship list, like the Pharos, SJD, and so on. I mean, they have importance to FREDers, at least, so why not make a page on them?


They don't exist in Canon FS though.

Cloak and Dagger, the seventh mission in the campaign.  It's the mission where you're covering Chronos freighters in a debris field near an Arcadia as they recover experimental weaponry.  At least in my opinion, it was probably the most entertaining mission in the campaign from a gameplay standpoint.

 
Yes. It was fairly elaborate, too. :v: made ships stealth/unstealth depending on their distance to a waypoint to represent the effects of an ion field surrounding the installation. It really was a good mission, maybe the best in Silent Threat.

Yeah, that doesn't really look like a wiki article at all, although I agree with most of your views. Pirates tend to be heavily overused in many user-made campaigns and often feel like they're thrown in just for the player to have something to shoot at. That ST mission was a much better example of how pirates can be used (a bit ironic, since many of the other ST missions sucked).

Good ideas, guys. As you can see, I split it into a Pirates page and a FRED advice page. Feel free to edit the article if you like, debate, or reverse the POV. It'd be especially helpful if someone could find a campaign that made really good use of pirates.

Mine is an exception. :p I avoid them altogether in my missions, as I don't think they fit well into the FS universe at all. They might make more sense in missions set during the post-GW reconstruction period, but seem unrealistic to have around after BETAC (and a stronger, centralized GTVA) has been established.

Axem - Sorry to post again when I said I was leaving for good, but something was nagging me. I don't want to say it in a way that shames the campaign but I think we can all agree it is actually.. incomplete. It is missing... Voice Acting.
