I just finished putting together my new computer, and when i booted it up and everything seemed fine, i partitioned my HD and the windows started to install, but here is the strange part, when the windows install GUI comes up and when it says that there is 39 minutes left of the installation the optical drive stops copying from the installation CD and on top of that no progresbar comes up either.

has anyone had this problem before. Any help is appreciated.

nope its a usual PC which i built from scratch.

We had a similar issue with an IBM laptop, but I don't remember what need to be done to get over it. I'll reply here when I know. Who knows, maybe it might help. There was a full page in the Microsoft Support about the installer hang in that computer.
