After three years Freespace 2 Sector has finally been updated - a little bit. There's still some work to do with the database, but it's more or less restored to it's original state with the exception of a new layout. Also for some reason all of the descriptions for the downloads got "cut off" when they were ported over, so I'll have to restore them soon. I've also updated all the coding of the website, meaning now you can:

Upload Images - Using tha gallery, you can store screenshots, renders, drawings, paintings and anything relating to Freespace. It's free for community use and can be used to store whatever you have in image format relating to Freespace. Images ofcourse have to be approved first.

Store your projects/mods - The download database is not just for finished modifications, models and stuff - It's also for work in progress, missions and files that you need to store somewhere as a means of providing it to the public for testing. I might later add password protected content.

Keep updated - As soon as I have some staff members sorted out, you'll be able to keep apprised of the goings on in the Freespace community.

I've also considered restoring the small info-database we had on the site a few years back, containing some basic information and statistics about the weapons and ships of Freespace 2. Although there is now a Wiki for this kind of thing, it's just intended to be a quick reference without having to read through a long page. Also it's just a way of padding the site a little bit since it's a bit skinny... :P Please, even if you've seen everything - Test the site. I need some people to download some files, post some comments, register on the gallery, etc. I need to know everything is working first, though ofcourse it has been tested or I would never have uploaded it. Keep in mind this is not a big project, it's just my way bringing the site back to some signs of life.

There's still work to be done, so consider this a BETA version.

Oooh. Very clean. Old F2S always looked very busy. This looks sharp and efficient, but still cool with that background nebula there. Very nice.

Looking nice, though I will make an aside, on Hunters' behalf that more people really need to support Sectorgame and F2S sector, I know if I were Hunter I'd feel a little narked that the BTRL Demo managed to drain my entire bandwidth allocation in a matter of days whilst the Forums themselves, except for the last couple of days, are nearly dead.

I wouldn't say it was any more or less active than it's been for about a year now. It goes through phases as you know, from quiet to semi-busy. I should also point out there was spamming going on during that time, so it wasn't just the BTRL demo

Looks very cool Hunter. I'm likely to be updating the FAQ sometime soon and when I do I'll make sure that F2S gets much higher billing as a download site than it does at the moment.
Karajorma's Freespace FAQ. It's almost like asking me yourself.

I'm looking for two staff members at the moment - Just to post Community related news on the frontpage. Any takers from the HLP pool or shall I stick to the SG crowd?  :p
