Changing turrets to missle turrets
     I'm trying to make outfits (different weapons for different situations; not clothes) for various warships for my tiny unambitious mod, and I am trying to turn the Aeolus into a missile boat.

     So I made a new missile tbl entry and a new ship tbl entry. So after hassling around and figuring out which turrets are where on the models, I changed the turrets to my new missile. The other turrets happened to be AAAfs, and so in FRED, all of the turrets were all still either terran turrets or AAAfs, so I went back and double checked both tbl entries. No mistakes. Then I remembered that I would need to go into the model and change it to a missle turret, so I did. I used Model view, because I am rather an idiot with PCS. So I changed it, saved it closed ModV. Went back into it to see if it actually saved, and it did. I looked at it in PCS and it read that they were now missle turrets, too. But the problem in FRED still occurs. Oh yes, I did remember to change the model names in the ships tbl entry.

     I am thinking that I forgot to do something in the Weapon table, because it's pretty much a copy/paste of the harpoon, but I'm not sure. Thanks!

The Aeolus  POF should have the turrets as missile banks. Open up the POF in modelview and click "convert to missile" for each turret you want to convert to missile.

Second, if you read carefully, you'll see this:

$Subsystem:                     turret07,2.0,1.0
   $Default PBanks:            ( "Crossbow" )

Which sould read like this:

$Subsystem:                     turret07,2.0,1.0
   $Default SBanks:            ( "Crossbow" )

Because the turret is a secondary, not a primary bank.

Otherwise, I don't see any problems with it. Make sure you delete the old model in FRED and make a new one. The old one, even with the new entry, will probably still act like the old one.

IIRC the turret definitions in POF file have no real value..

What matters is the $Default PBanks:/$Default SBanks: setting. Also IIRC if you change turrets in tbm this doesnt work (turret then actually has both PBank and SBank... i think).
Do not meddle in the affairs of coders for they are soggy and hard to light

what type of turret it is in the model is irrelivent, the FSO code for loading turrets is literaly the same for TGUN and TMIS, not identical the same.

and that's why PCS2 doesn't make any distinction between gun and missile turrets.
