The Babylon project, eh?
So, due to recent extremes in boredom, i'm thinking of trying out this "Babylon project". I have never heard of Babylon 5, or anything related, so before i dive head first into this mod, can someone tell me what i should know to prep me so i can understand the story and technologies?

Thanks in advance

Re: The Babylon project, eh?
ah, thanks. Are there anything that i should know that wikipedia can't offer?

EDIT: After reading the story section of wikipedia, is that it? Just a 5th version of a station where a bunch of civilisations meet? Well does that mean i can play now?  :D

Also, judging from the installation. It seems to be standalone. But i see a feature in FSO that says "toggle features for the bgabylon project". Should i run it as a mod for FSO then?

No, it is completely stand-alone, but FSO supports the TBP and Wing Commander Saga featuresets.

Re: The Babylon project, eh?
So is there any differance if i run it stand-alone or if i run it as a FSO mod?

I just tried it stand alone, and it said that my openGL drivers are out-of-date, but if play it as a freespace mod i don't get this message. So, newbie question, how do i update openGL?

P.S. I tried installing version 3.2 and then patching it to 3.3, but that didn't work. so all i have is 3.2.

You can use the newest FSO build. It works just as well with that. Just throw the exe in TBP directory and play. As for other TBP problems... You might want to check the sticky thread that is about installation and common problems.

And yes. The wiki is correct. If you want us to spell out 6 seasons worth of storyline, it's not gonna happen. There's some wars, civil wars, evil aliens, ancient evil aliens and ancient powerful evil aliens. And some other aliens too. Watch the show will ya!

In general you can get the hang of what's going on in TBP without the need to have seen the show. Like BtRL (and likely Starfox) it's much better appreciated if you're familiar with the source material.
