The new destroyer is now complete. It has 23 turrets and a fighterbay. Includes an Ancient Slash beam, will be avaliable soon with the Heraklion.

It's looking good, though I would have to agree that this particular shot doesn't show much   Maybe a broadside view could do better.  

And Dragonclaw raises a good point, did the Ancients have beams back then? After all your work on the Ancient beams I would certainly include them now, but maybe you could try and invent some new types of weapons for the Ancients to use. I Would suggest Shrike to help you, as he is our Resident Weapons Technician, and quite l33+ if I do say so myself, but I can't guarantee he's free.

That's the kind of idea. But there are more radical things that can be done with certain flags and certain effects in the FS2 engine.

The ancients MAY have had beams...for all we know, the Shivans got the technology from them before turning it against them.

What the ancients DIDN'T have, however, was shields.

You can beta test missions, but not the ships. I test them myself and only Darkage is allowed to test them (to test weapons)

Testing missions is hard - you need to go through every single mission objective to see if it works, and balance it too for each objective failing, and watch all ships to see if they act according to the mission etc. etc. - a difficult task.

all we truely know is that they couldn't penetrate shivan shields, they could of had different type of shields  
Also if the ancients had beams, the shivans did not take that from them, the shivans were around far longer than the ancients, one can only guess how old the Lucifer really was...
