yeah well it should have been as simple as unplugging it and plugging it back in at the new location.  they couldn't because it was dropped.  i'm guessing it was probably a desktop that was converted to a server, or something like that.

because it's very rare for people to drop $20,000 rack-mount servers

Remember that scene from Babylon 5 where they uncovered the Shadow vessel on Mars, and another comes along to retrieve it, along with an ear shattering scream at its birth?
