My first sketch-up model
Been playing around with sketch-up for a little while now and this is the first model I've produced. I know it's a bit blocky but that was the intention. I'll work on some more curved structures for the next one.
Comments welcome.

Re: My first sketch-up model
Impressive. :) I use Sketchup myself, this is good work. My only suggestions are that you use the soften line tool to soften those lines around the cones at the engine inlets, and that I think you're area above the conn tower is all reversed (tan = normal, purple = reversed, which = bad). Looks good otherwise :)

Fixed. Thanks for the suggestion, I had to completely redo the top of the Conn Tower to correct the reversed faces so it may not look the same. I also applied some smoothing to the engines as well. I was wondering if Sketch-up had a smoothing tool.

I'm not sure how to do it myself but I know others have some how imported Sketch-Up models into Truespace and then gone from there. I believe a few Inferno models were upgraded that way for the Inferno Alliance project.

Re: My first sketch-up model
Yes, it is...although it can be an annoying process at times, and sometimes requires some fixing of smooth groups in the subsequent app. I'm waiting until PCS2 adds something other than TS support, because TS is a *****. What I do is export from Sketchup as a .3DS. If I textured it in SU I check to preserve to the texture coordinates (if not hit weld vertices). When it comes out, I open it in 3D Exploration, weld everything (don't know if this actually does anything in that app), then export it to the format of my choice (generally .cob). After that, open it in TS and rotate it/scale it properly and save as a COB, then use PCS2 to export it to POF. That SHOULD work (you should weld vertices in TS, but I don't know how).

Re: My first sketch-up model
I thought about giving Max a try but the price tag is a little out of my reach for just a hobby that I am only starting to dabble in.
