Hi all. Freespace noob here. I've never played the game but was recommended it by a mate. I thought I'd download Turey's Open Installer to try and get the improved GFX etc.
My query is: does the installer download the entire game? I already have FS2 installed but the installer is downloading files and taking an age. Unfortunately it doesn't give an overall progress indication (or download speed), just the current file...at the moment I'm  80% through sparky_hi_fs2.vp .

Yes, it does d/l the whole game.

Actually, if you did it right, you would have just upgraded to SCP, but you must have accidentally tried the full installation.

Yes I'm just doing it again without the FS2 files.

If it's downloading a retail VP, it means one of two things:
1. You don't have the VP.
2. The VP's not the right version.

It won't do any needless downloading.
