Greetings all. I'm a new member here, but I go way back with FS2.... it was the only game I ever preordered in my life LOL.

Forgive me if this has been covered before... I searched the forums for the last hour and didn't find anything, but then again it could be staring me right in the face.

I have downloaded numerous new ships for FS2 Open. I was able to install them all, and they were working. Then I went back and downloaded some more.... installed them.

Now I appear to have hit some kind of limit. When I remove 1 ship that appears in the FRED2 list, another one appears in its place that wasn't there before, hence my discovery of an apparent limit.

By counting, I found that FRED2 lists 130 ships, and not any more than that. Did I do something wrong, or is this some kind of limit like the 100 ship-in-a-mission limit?

If it is a limit, is there any way to get around it? I've fallen in love with the new ships I downloaded and I don't want to have to get rid of some of them if I don't have to.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. And for what its worth, SCP is awesome, and I hope you guys are still working on it.

You have a limit of 130 ships unless you use an Inferno build. That limit will be removed eventually in FS2_Open 3.7 but until that comes out only Inferno builds can pass that limit.

However there are plenty of ships that you can remove from the current ship.tbl to allow you to add more. Volition Bravos and the Ganymede are two that spring to mind as the former isn't used in the game normally and the latter only in multiplayer.

Yeah, I can remove a few ships from the table to clear up some space. What is an Inferno build? Is it vastly different than FS2_Open? If it is, I'll just wait for 3.7, because I really like the game as it is now.

Is there an ETA on FS2_Open 3.7? I'm playing around with FRED2 now, getting reacquainted with it, it's been years since I designed missions for FS2. So I definitely have plenty to do. I'm also going to check out some of the user made campaigns out there, some sound like they are quite impressive.

Hey take out the SJD Sathanas.Any Terran Vasudan Fight you don't like or are weak.Also the Hades if your not using it.The Fs1 sentry Guns.Any thing you don't want like FS2 retail ship wise. :D

Well hell, that was easier than I thought LOL.... I took out just a few things that I knew I wouldn't use, and managed to get all the other ships that I downloaded into the game.

Thank you very much karajorma, that wouldn't have occurred to me if you hadn't said something.

I left in the Sathanas for now, not sure if I will use it or not. If I were to design a campaign or a series of missions, I thought about having them revolve around the GTVA after the two wars, and the GTVA fleet being used to fight growing pirate activity instead of Shivans or the NTF.

I also want to have a section in there where the GTVA finally makes contact with Earth... although I'm sure that idea has been done to death  :)

Yes there are at least 6-8 Campaigns with meeting up with earth.I mean the Second Sathy.The one in the distance.Oh and good luck. :nod:

Hades recommended removing the SJD Sathanas not the SJ Sathanas. You probably only need the latter. :)

Inferno builds are basically FS2_Open with a certain compiler flag enabled. The result is that the build uses more memory and will corrupt multiplayer pilots (unless you make a new one specifically for it). However it allows you up to 300 ships and 200 weapons.
