It's time I get this straightened out. Whenever someone says a valid comment adding to a discussion, it seems to always be followed by a "lol just send Alpha 1 in lol" or an idiotic "command is dumb lmao" comment. They were funny the first time. The nine hundred and fifty forth time, they're not. I've been on HLP for just over a year and I've seen enough of these jokes to drive me insane. Worse still, these jokes seem to always make valid discussions degrade into pointless spamming.

The purpose of this post was to bring to the attention of everybody that replying to Cobra's posts saying "LOL COMMANDS STUPID THAT'S WHY LOL" is pointless, dumb, stupid and not funny. It's just plain useless. Command is stupid, yes, we all know, Alpha 1 can kill 800 Shivans, yes, we all know, so stop bringing it up because it just pisses people off and it gets old. Fast. In fact, it's been old for a few years now. Pointless comments like this causing threads degrading into spam is what I believe made people like Aldo_14 and Raa leave HLP for places like SectorGame.

Sorry if this post was a little inflammatory, but I just wanted you people to know that posting crap like that really has no value. Thank you for reading this post and thank you even more for not making any more dumb comments about how Command should just send in Alpha 1 since he's invincible.

I wouldn't mind but I've often seen Command is stupid comments used to justify the most ridiculous crap without even an attempt to assume Command AREN'T stupid.

For instance "Why don't Command send hundreds of bombers to take out the Sathanas" - Who says that they even have hundreds of bombers in system? Who says that they didn't try that at the blockade and lose them? Who says that even if they have them they can launch them in time to make a difference? Who says that even if they have the bombers they have the thousands of bombs the bombers will need?


In general when I see the "..because Command is stupid" argument it's generally part of a threadbare argument that has completely failed to look for any alternate explanation or is defending one particular narrow interpretation of the events in the game.

its simply because alpha 1 is controlled by a human. simply because that human gets second..and third, chances at playing the game after dieing is simply because its a game.


as for command, if you wonder "why not send in ursas instead", perhaps all the pilots (and other alpha 1's) used up the GTVAs stock of ursas. although this SURLY wouldnt have happened if the terrans would have allied with the shivans *grumble*, it did. sorry to the millions of alpha oes of all the different computers and squadrons who are playing that mission.

Who says they even have hundreds of bombers in the first place?  I'm pretty sure the GTVA doesn't have of resources, as they used up in the 14-year war, and theres only about 4 wings max in a battle.

they hired derek smart to give the perseus 3000 ONE frakking gunpoint, no missles (because missle exploding would just add to "the terrible pollution that is space debirs" ), and the shivans, free of this burden, kicked GTVA arse. luckily for freespace fans, this is a future that was terminated by the descicion not too give derek smart the freespace rights. this terrible future rests in a different dimension, most likely the 11th, in a different universe. the same universe in which command actualy is stupid and alpha 1 is a total wimp. also, HLP is missing there. what a sad, sad world that is.

I've made my opinion clear, intelligent, or humorous side comments are fine, I don't mind those, though, obviously, other Moderators may have different opinions, but I am most certainly aware of the fact that since th General Discussion board became postcount-free there has been an escalating amount of 'Postcount++' type posts appearing in General Freespace.

For the main part, I've let it go, hoping that people would calm down over time, but that won't continue forever, you can rest assured.
