Got a campaign idea? A mission you want to see in the SWC?
I have just been recently appointed campaign manager. Any campaigns or missions that you would like to see in the SWC, send them by my way and we will see about getting them in the TC.

If you have ideas, missions, or a campaign story for the main campaign, send them to me, but they will have to go through stricter guidelines such as:

Canonical consistency (Brand-X will check this, must not contradict the films or novels)

Good grammar, spelling,  format, etc.

Overall good story telling (This has a lot of factors such as consistency, character development,  good perception, etc.)

Realistic (Facing sixteen Executors, and 6 Eclipses is not what I consider realistic :P)

And anything else that I can think of along the way.

We have been considering episodic content, fan added side missions, a forever continuing story (if the novels could do it, it must be possible :P) and more. The team will discuss these issues and see which path is the most feasible and successful.

Thanks SWC team! And the fans that support the project!

My email is [email protected]

EDIT: Some of you may notice that I do not have a badge. One might assume that I am some random guy trying to steal campaigns, missions, ideas, etc.

Chief should be coming any minute now saying that I do have such a position.

If not, I'm fuxored.

Edit:  Also, Truespace isn't necessary for modeling, and neither is purchasing the full version.  3.2 is available freely and still capable of making models.  There's also Blender, 3ds Max, Wings3d, Sketchup, Solid Modeling applications, etc...

I'll vouch for ya: he is on the team, and he's quite helpful.

I had an idea for a campaign where you're a rebel pilot sent on a top-secret mission to kill fifteen executors and five eclipses! (See? Realistic!)

It's possible we'll have two campaigns, a rebel and imperial one, so for people who submit stories, make sure you write them for both sides.

Like the extension for X wing vs Tie Fighter Balance of Power ? Why not.

Re: Got a campaign idea? A mission you want to see in the SWC?
Speaking of X-Wing vs TIE, I really loved the mission to destroy the SSD, by ramming a corvette loaded with explosives into it. I'm sure it wouldn't be to hard to "mission" something like that up, maybe as a pre-emptive strike against a new Imperial super weapon (which the SSD could be considered as).
A probe, spy, or informant tells the Alliance about this thing under construction, then there would be a recon mission, softening-up, and finally a massive showdown with a semi-operational SSD!
OOH! To add to the suspense, you could even throw in a couple of Eclipses! :p

Also, something with the World Devestators and droid TIEs could be interesting, I've always wanted to see these.

Extraction of Bothans with the Death Star plans, even though I think this has been done before.
Alliance pilots flying TIEs to attempt to escort a shuttle out covertly, but being discovered.

I think all of these missions could be approached from both sides of the story, as Imps and Rebs.

And I am aware that I'm ripping off mission ideas from other StarWars games.

Re: Got a campaign idea? A mission you want to see in the SWC?
I'm not sure what you meant about submitting for both sides, if they have just one campaign that's designed for one or the other, or some mix I'm sure it will work.  My goal would be to focus on one campaign for a release and then have a second one hopefully soon after.

If you had played Balance of Power, we have 2 campaign. 1 for each side. And the storyline is pretty the same wheither you played Rebel or Imperial. The only difference are the objectives, and cutscenes.

I meant that people shouldn't just write campaigns from the rebel perspective.  I didn't mean that the campaign should work for both sides. That's just a bad idea.

Re: Got a campaign idea? A mission you want to see in the SWC?
I know I prefer original story driven campaigns set in the gap between Episodes III and IV simply because that area hasn't been covered in nearly as much detail as say anything post Episode VI (and a lot of EU stuff in my opinion isn't really all that inspiring with the exception of Shadows of the Empire, Thrawn/Empire Trilogy, and possibly Dark Empire).  I for one am getting annoyed with all these "Ultimate Doomsday Weapons" or "Evil generic Dark Jedi" stories (which is why I LOVE Thrawn and Xizor as villains)  They are Unique.  Thrawn was incredibly resourceful and Xizor got us a look into more of the criminal side of things.

Re: Got a campaign idea? A mission you want to see in the SWC?
Personally, I'd like to see much of the novels made into campaigns.  I'd like to play out the battle in which Grand Admiral Thrawn met his demise by a pincer movement executed brilliantly by Han Solo and Admiral Akbar (IIRC).  Things like that.

And who wouldn't wanna go on a Death Star run in Freespace 2?

Re: Got a campaign idea? A mission you want to see in the SWC?
I know next to nothing about the EU, so the only things I'm really pulling for are the good ol' trench run and the Battle of Endor finally being used in its original context.  Completely derivative, completely already-been-done, but that doesn't stop me from drooling at the thought. :p

Re: Got a campaign idea? A mission you want to see in the SWC?
These missions will definitely get into the SWC one way or another. As for the main campaign....

Our lid is tight on that for now :)

Yes and no. The ideas are currently going through the strict guidelines, but that doesn't mean people should stop sending more ideas.

Han Solo was on Wayland when that battle occurred.  Maybe you're thinking of General Bel Iblis?

Here's what I would not use.  I would not use Truce at Bakura, Jedi Academy Trilogy, Darksaber, Black Fleet Crisis, Children of the Jedi, Corellian Trilogy, Crystal Star, anything post Hand of Thrawn Duology (sorry, the concept of the super-god race should be left out of Star Wars.  For the super-god race, I STRONGLY recommend The Babylon Project (Babylon 5 is set up to handle this kind of thing as they are an essential part of that series plot development).  The spirit of Star Wars has never dealt with super-god races and their introduction really doesn't do anything to enrich the universe or enhance the story.

Now, there is a load of EU stuff I don't know about that might be good, but from what I've read it's mostly not worth rehashing.  That and there's already so much stuff going on post-Jedi, its harder to maintain continuity unless you're getting into "selecting what you like and canning the tripe", which I'll admit, is essentially what I would wind up doing. :p ;)

That's exactly why the lid is tight.  The team doesn't want us to know they haven't got a clue what to do for the main yet. =P  JK

Anyway, Maje, wasn't the original Sith a super-god race?  Like, pre-Exar Kun Sith.

Any of the battles from the X-wing series would be good IMO.

2 Million Polys, and people are complaining about 6.5k right now :p

I sure earned it, didn't I?  :P

Re: Got a campaign idea? A mission you want to see in the SWC?
of course, that doesn't mean ALL 2 mil will be onscreen and rendered at one time.

Still, I may need to save some money for a SWC computer upgrade.

Re: Got a campaign idea? A mission you want to see in the SWC?
I have a campaign idea but how developed to want it to be? A paragraph or 5 pages? And does it have involve/be connected with the main Star Wars movies storyline? (i.e. can it be completely original?)

Re: Got a campaign idea? A mission you want to see in the SWC?
Well with the current ship list I would say that someone could do a lot of mini-campaigns (or a huge one) with the rise of the empire has topic (you don't think that everything was sooo easy as seen in Episode 3)

and maybe I'll do one of them once you've released... now go and release stuff!

Re: Got a campaign idea? A mission you want to see in the SWC?
Something that was never fully covered would be set during the early days of the Rebel Alliance's formation with trying unite various Rebel factions into a cohesive military force against the Empire.  It should be noted though, that the Rebel's primary starfighter of choice would be the Y-wing Starfighter, as the X-wing prototypes are still locked away in an Incom storehouse somewhere.  Other things to take note would be the Imperial fighters would be more along the lines of variants, such as the TIE/FC, TIE/RC, TIE/GT, TIE Vanguard, TIE Gunship (field modification), and TIE Scout.  The TIE Bomber might actually be around at this point, but if you're adhering to canon, the TIE Interceptor isn't even on the drawing boards yet, and TIE Advanced X1 at best is in the design stages since this all takes place roughly two years before Yavin.
