Urmmm....Hi. First let me apologise if this isn't the right place to post this message.
I've been a long-time lurker as a non-member for quite a while now, and I think it's time that I should say how impressed I am with what you guys have achieved in keeping FreeSpace alive well passed it's initial release. I first got into playing FS2 not so long after it was released in '99. I've always been keen on flight sims as well as space sims and so had cut my gaming teeth on things like X-Wing and other related titles, and FS2 was just as good, if not better. I first came across FSO over 2 and 1/2 years ago and failed to get it fully up and running on an asthmatic 700MHz machine, but ever since we got a new comp I've managed (through trial and error) to get it running as I think it should....Recently I got my hands on FS1 and Silent Threat too, and was surprised that I could get them running on XP in Win98 compatibility mode, albeit with reduced graphical quality.
So far I've played through a few mods/campaigns (like Rain on Ribos 4, Inferno R1, Sync, Transcend, Derelict SCP Ed) and I've really enjoyed them, but considering that these things are made for no profit and during people's spare time, I've always felt that I should show some appreciation, hence this post. With my absolute lack of talent in anything though, I don't see how I can contribute to the project or take up any modding. Maybe I can learn something over time from you lot though.
You all rock big proverbial bells!! Long Live FreeSpace and all that good stuff.
