fs1 old campaigns problem
Hello, starlord here:

I downloaded old freespace 1 campaigns (one is about destroying the HOL and shivans aboard the GTA saratoga and there is another one I don't remember) And I have one problem:

When I come to the weapon selector screen, I notice that in one campaign only 2 ML16 lasers and 5 heat seekers are present, and naturally, ml16 are useless against shivans. In the second campaign, they are no weapons to choose from, so I cannot start.

Could you please tell me what to do? (I'm running on FS1 and FS2 retail).

looks like the campaign file might be "broken" can you please extract both and post them here...

just as I though....
the starting weapons/ship entry in both campaign are minmal/nonexistant -- as they are still original FS mission and campaign files I prefer not play around with them in an attempt to fix them --

but If you have FSSCP and the FS1 Port you might try the following packages from Hades Combine - they contain the campaigns you posted but not for FS but for FS1 Port
FS Ported campaigns I
FS Ported campaigns II

I put the FS1 files on hades combine and they may work with FS2 retail.  Here are some corrected FS1 files of the 2 campaigns you listed.

The difference between Mechanical Engineers and Civil Engineers is:
Mechanical Engineers build weapons.  Civil Engineers build targets

Hi: Thanks for the corrected files.

Yet after having advanced through the campaigns I realised that I'm blocked in both:

In victory, at one point you are to retrieve cargo containers from the HOL yet one cargo explodes (I don't know why) and knowing the fact that the recovery team won't come before I clean the sector for them, I try to dispatch all enemy vessels: however one bast freighter is invincible (always at 100%) and destroying the other (although enemy) will result in the mission being a failure.

In aliance (or should I say alliance), after the mission named assault where you take out 2 demons, 2 liliths and a gti installation (???), the next mission won't launch (error message from the debugger, then I get notified in the game that the mission couldn't be started).

Awaiting your advice.

In alliance the last mission (ambush) doesn't exist.  As  far as I know it never did.  when I converted it to FSPort I modified the campaign file and deleted the last mission.  So you have finished Alliance.  Let me know what the mission name is that you are stuck on in victory and I'll take a look at it.  Sorry I didn't get back to you sooner but I've been out of town doing some contract work.

Ah, I have it: the buggy mission I'm having trouble with in victory is "prototype".

Here is a corrected mission.  The old one had the objective tied to the HOL Bast when it should have been the prototype.  The Bast is no longer invulnerable.
