Why can't I fly into stock ship fighter bays. My Perseus is obviously bigger than a Hygeia... :doubt:

With brute force and an Ursa you can. I got into the Typhon bay.

I always wondered that too, because in FS1, Command asks you to try and enter the Lucifer's fighter bay in the mission where you scan it's subsystems (Playing Judas, maybe?) but I never could.

I presume, seeing as in particular when you are on board the Bastion, you can see crew members on the flight deck and fighter bay, that they operate some sort of air lock system.  When the Destroyer is ready for you to arrive, I would presume they clear the flight deck so that no unfortuate soul was sucked into the void of space when the door to the bay is opened.

Hmmm....  Given that Tennessee state law allows for you to eat your roadkill (ye gods, man, I hate this state), so long as you properly report it, I wonder if that would extend to cannibalizing flight crew, sucked out of the hangar, and into the windshield of the landing fighter, supposing the Bastion were to be in geosynchronous orbit over Tennessee....  The sad thing is, I think the bigger legal question is how far up territorial airspace goes than the actual eating of human flesh.

More to the point of the thread, I have forced my way into the hangar of an Orion on a number of occasions before.  Most recently, I cruised in in a Perseus to expel a wing of hostile bombers that got stuck inside the bay from which they were supposed to launch.

I think you can with the HTL Orion (and a few other ships) since it doesn't have a wall there.

Do what I do, cheat and use no collisions. :nervous:
To consider the Earth as the only populated world in infinite space is as absurd as to assert that in an entire field of millet, only one grain will grow. - Metrodorus of Chios
I wept. Mysterious forces beyond my ken had reached into my beautiful mission and energized its pilots with inhuman bomb-firing abilities. I could only imagine the GTVA warriors giving a mighty KIAAIIIIIII shout as they worked their triggers, their biceps bulging with sinew after years of Ivan Drago-esque steroid therapy and weight training. - General Battuta

You're not supposed to. As soon as you get close to it the luci will launch a couple of fighters and your cover is blown.
"The reason for this is that the original Fortran got so convoluted and extensive (10's of millions of lines of code) that no-one can actually figure out how it works, there's a massive project going on to decode the original Fortran and write a more modern system, but until then, the UK communication network is actually relying heavily on 35 year old Fortran that nobody understands." - Flipside

There was a glitch with the Lucifer and the Typhon where when the lumped in there would be no colisions.
So then I would wait for them to jump in and when it did, i would use my after burners to say in it.

I would love to know which Genius in command thought it would be a good idea for a Terran to go into the Lucifer fighter bay.  What exactly did they think could happen?

Prolly in pieces.

How disorganized ARE the shivans really?
Have you ever seen any carrier in the world today or air base that doesn't request authorization whenever a new contact appears on radar, friend or foe?

Shivans dont' seem to have no such check
