Exactly.  You can say all you want calling him an idiot for cutting off his nuts, but the fact is this was the right thing to do, given the situation.

Well, all I can really say is that the person who gets hurt the most by him cutting off his nuts is probably him. I don't understand his situation. I don't know how it feels to be a pedophile, and I haven't studied pedophiles in detail. I don't know if he was psychologically capable of calling the police or a friend to tell them that he was going to rape a child. I don't know what kind of psychological barriers would develop from knowing that you are a member of one of the most rejected groups of people in society, and there's nothing you can do about it, and having to abstain from any kind of normal sex life for your entire life.

So, if he says the right thing to do was to cut off his own nuts, I don't think I'm qualified to disagree. Personally, I think people have a right to decide for themselves when it is and isn't right to cut off their nuts (or tits, etc).

theres only so much getting help can accomplish. getting stuck in an asylum makes you useless to society. what he should of done is had chemical castration done, which is cheaper (no doubt cheaper than his trip to the emergency room), reverseable, and by far less painful.

Exactly. Say what you will about this guy, but he felt the urge to reoffend and did something about it. Better than the alternative.

The alternative to having the urge to do something about it is to do nothing about it.  Doing something about it includes everything from cutting off his balls to going balls deep on some kid.  Doing nothing about it would mean precisely what it sounds like...  Not doing anything.  The alternative could very well have been better than doing something about it.

Here's a reality check.  People with pedophilia (or any other mental illness, for that matter) NEVER recover from the urges associated with it.  The only thing a person can control is his actions.

Technically, that would be eliminating his possible actions, not controlling them. He deserves a Darwin Award regardless.
