Hey all

Sorry for starting a new thread, i know its bad form, but id just like to say.......goshdarn its good to be here been a freespace fan for ages and after finally getting round to having a gaming pc again, looked to see what was still here and all the old forums had closed.
thank heaven for you guys, now i only need the free time to get round to finishing freespace2 and getting on to all the missions made by fans.

Greetings. First of all, seriously. Don't listen to Titan. Next, something useful. There are a number of funky things behind the Useful stuff link in my sig, which you can use once you've acquired SCP. Including but not limited to: LightSpeed's pretty Nebula backgrounds, Bobboau's stylish beams, a fixed training mission for the FSPort and a few HTL ships you can't get with the mediavps. Check them out and get 7-Zip for extracting them, if you don't already have it.

Be warned though, that's kinda how my FAQ got started.

Yeah the SCP is the Source Code Project.  If you have DSL/Cable/Something decently fast, use Turey's Installer to download 3.6.9 (the latest version) and you will be pleasantly surprised (quite an understatement actually).  The installer is very easy to use and the thread is stickied at the top of the General FreeSpace Discussion page.  Have Fun!

EDIT:  and the Installer includes the option to download many of the best user made campaigns all pimped out for the SCP

Yeh, installing FSO isn't a big deal. Just follow the instructions of the walkthrough jr2 mentioned and you'll be fine. Just remember to install it over your FreeSpace 2 installation so that you don't download anything unnecessary.

2) Red has always been one of my favourite colours;
3) The Ferrari is Red, and Kimi Raikkonnen won the Championship;
4) The third colour of the Italian flag is Red;

I write in blue because:

1) I'm protesting against Mobius' colroful texts;
2)I like blue;
3)Lada is a fine piece of hardware and their logo has blue;
4)One of the only two colors in the Finnish flag is blue.
