YOU !

Why don't you ever get online anymore ?!  ;)

And , why do you think that MadSpace is somehow connected to FreeSpace ?

Probably because the title ends in Space.  But if FreeSpace's father was MadSpace, I hope that FS didn't get beaten as a child because his father was so angry. And the new question may, in fact, be "Who is FreeSpace's mother?"

Re: Freespace's much older brother
Just based on the date, I'd say it's more likely that "Madspace" was some variation of SpaceWar...

The name Madspace comes about since the laws of physics are often defied in this program

Re: Freespace's much older brother
Not really, Space Invaders is the classic "OMG save Earth from the aliens!" game while Colony Wars started as the rebellion of oppressed humans against Earth itself.

Colony Wars' father is the American Independence

Because it's obviously the precursor of ALL PC games. :p

Re: Freespace's much older brother
That'd be "FS's GREAT, GREAT, GREAT, GREAT, GREAT, GREAT GRAND father," or else it just means that FS's dad is a really great kinda guy. :D

Re: Freespace's much older brother
Heh i played this once.Pretty interesting

Looks like a rip-off of Wolf3d (there are like a hundred).

This wasn't a ripoff of Wolf3d; Wolf3d was a rip-off of THIS !

but in all seriousness  think they probably got the date wrong. There's just no way that pc games being released back then (if they even were) would look like that O_o

Heh, yeah. Even 15 years later a game with top-notch graphics looked like this (in the original 320x200 resolution).

Mmmmmmmm, pixelage
"The reason for this is that the original Fortran got so convoluted and extensive (10's of millions of lines of code) that no-one can actually figure out how it works, there's a massive project going on to decode the original Fortran and write a more modern system, but until then, the UK communication network is actually relying heavily on 35 year old Fortran that nobody understands." - Flipside
