Try forcing 100Mbit full duplex for your Eth port, that worked on mine.

Re: Thunderbolt allmost done
Wrong. The A-10 is primarily a bomber. However, it is unique in that its armor is sturdy enough to take multiple hits without critical systems damage, and its design is solid enough to allow flight without a wing and aileron. No other aircraft in the United States Air Force can take such punishment. Granted, it is skinny-looking, but it is more than capable of delivering its ordinance. I would hope that TrashMan gives this A-10 analog extremely sturdy hull integrity and more than enough firepower (the A-10 has a chin-mounted GAU-8 Avenger for cryin' out loud!).

The A-10 is a close air support craft, meaning that while it IS a bomber, it is primarily used to bomb tanks, and enemy supply lines. The Air Force didn't even want to employ it at first, because of that reason. The A-10 does carry a lot of weaponry (16,000lbs worth), but when I think of really carrying a HUGE amount of bombs, the B2 (50,000), B52(70,000) and the B1(93,000) come to mind. a Sath Killer would be something really big. Not an A10.

Plus the A-10 has the Avenger. D:

I wept. Mysterious forces beyond my ken had reached into my beautiful mission and energized its pilots with inhuman bomb-firing abilities. Re: Thunderbolt allmost done
The A-10, as jaedub pointed out, is a Close Air Support craft.. it's purpose is to fly low and slow over a battlefield, and pulverize anything that threatens the ground troops, as well as targets of opportunity.  It has a loiter time of around 2 hours more or less, depending on how far it has to go after mid-air refueling to reach the combat zone.  It is extremely durable, and there are reports of it taking direct missile hits and flying home, as well as 57mm AAA shots to the bottom of the cockpit, which did not penetrate its titanium armor (IIRC).  It has multiple redundant controls, as well as manual controls in case the hydraulics get shot up.  The wheels are made to that they will drop into the craft's slipstream and lock if the hydraulics are gone and they have to be released manually.  Even though this is its primary purpose, it can maneuver sharply at low speeds, and it carries some Air-to-Air weaponry (2x AIM-9 Sidewinders, plus, of course, the cannon).

Re: Thunderbolt allmost done
The A-10 would be more like a siege fighter, softening up the target for bombers to deliver their payloads.

Re: Thunderbolt allmost done
Yes... but even the A-10 only comes in after the EW (Electronic Warfare) birds, stealth fighters/bombers & strike bombers do their jobs, and there is Air Superiority fighter cover.  Not saying it can't do without those, but there would be heavy losses, if the enemy is at all competent.  The A-10 doesn't have any stealth characteristics.  :D  It could probably follow pretty close in those crafts' wake, though.  ;)

Re: Thunderbolt allmost done
Make it a strike bomber, for disabling targets, destroying crusiers, etc. Similar to the Athena or Artemis.

I think in FS it's primary role would be stand-off (long-range) disabling of enemy Destroyer / bigger's subsystems, as well as what cole said.

You mean like a Trebuchet bomber, for taking out hardpoints on a destroyer or corvette?

Re: Thunderbolt allmost done
Ya, in addition to what you said... if TrashMan makes different "weapon types" aka types of rounds available for the gun, this should work nicely (eg, one type of round for heavy subsystem damage, another for maximum hull damage, or another with a 1:1 mix of the two types, which = half of each damage type in the table files).

Re: Thunderbolt allmost done
An uber long range Maxim type cannon, a mid range disruptor, and a short range cannon similar to that of the present-day A10, with massive damage and spread similar to some of the guns in PI. The last one would be a sort of chain gun, with a warm up time.

In all fairness to the A-10, when it was developed, there were no fighters with advanced 'look down' systems, so at low altitude, it would have been around for quite a while before it got picked off.

well, the A-10 is definitely NOT a 'stand-off' craft. but Trashman's ship could be!

Actually, in its shape at least, the Thunderbolt reminds me of the A-1. That's one thing that's missing, IMO, from the vast modded fleet of ships: a dedicated "A" class. Of course, since they can't even figure it out in the real world.....lol.

Dangit. I made all the LODs and debris and it converts OK...but for some reason the scale is totally fubar. the scaling factor is set to 1.0, the length in TS is 35 meters and yet it ends up 50 meters in modelview...WTF????

Re: Thunderbolt allmost done
Using PCS2? remember to set the ratio in PCS2 correctly.

Re: Thunderbolt allmost done
Nah..using PCS 1.4.2. for conversion since PCS2 is still somewhat buggy sometimes.

Play with it until it converts correctly?  As in, set the scaling as if you wanted it to go down from 50 to 35 meters or something... until it comes out right.
