Honor is following your orders and achieving your mission objectives. Don't get me wrong. He won't shoot you in the back. He'll give you fair warning to surrender and then shoot you in the back. Any pilot under his command will have noticed the merciless...ness with which commands. Think commander Cain from Battlestar Galactica.

No other characters on the Hermes. It was only a short campaign so there was no need for lots of characters.  The campaign had other characters of course, but a lot of 'em are dead now. I think the ship full of stuck up Brits survived.

There is a continuity issue with the Hermes it cannot get destroyed in the EA civil war, it was in "A Call To Arms"  I think someone told me.    I dont know if you can have deep character development in a space flying game, but maybe, using the computer generated video segments only as a plot thickner.
