Hi everyone! I'm new here, but I'm a long time fan of Freespace!

I'm using FS2_open on Linux, I've installed everything and now just want to make sure everything is fine, since I'm a little confused with all this add-ons

1. FS2 works fine, with updated graphics, but I installed Zeta media vps first, and then wanted to try advanced media vps... Is it enough to just put adveffects files in mediavps folder? Cause I didn't notice much difference..  Maybe I need to play a bit longer though...

2. I've downloaded FSport aswell. The updated grapics is here, but ships still look "original", at least Apollo... Is that allright, or there are some other enhancements, addons to install?

Thats about it... Sorry I spam with noob questions, but I really have a hard time managing through all of this add-ons, and just want to make sure I have everything set right!

Im using version 3.6.9 on Ubuntu 7.10.

It is indeed enough. Just make sure that you got the update as well (the mp-710_adveffects.vp or something similar).

Check the Useful Stuff link in my signature. There are a few HTL ships there that don't come with the mediavps. And one fixed mission for FSPort. Do get that too. Follow the instructions and let me know if you can't handle the .7z files. I can upload them in alternative archives, if necessary.
