Re: info on several campaigns?
Hey, I found something here that skippy might like for his list: http://www.gamekult.com/forum/lire_n157818/

contains some campaigns I have never heard of, like the babylon 5 campaign tales of shamus.

Interesting piece of info.

I think you mean Tales of EAS Janus :p

Which you won't have heard of because it never worked on anything after release 2 (unless someone has fixed it recently).

Re: info on several campaigns?
Nevertheless, it should be preserved!

Who knows, perhaps TBP team will manage to "convert" it to newer releases. And if not, this campaign does justify the fact of finding an old release to make it work (babylon campaigns are not quite that numerous).

Re: info on several campaigns?
Janus was a release 1 campaign, right? I think there was a patch to make it compatible to R2, but TBP is way ahead of that. Updating that campaign would be difficult.

EAS Janus starts great, but gets a little boring at the middle. I never finished it completely, I think I stopped 3 missions before the final one.

  • If somebody made a campaign I've probably got it
Re: info on several campaigns?
Actually Tales of EAS Janus is included in the Babylon Project Campaign pack v1.0.  It will play on the current version of the Babylon project.  Here is a link to the thread.

Normal people believe that if it isn't broke, don't fix it. Engineers believe that if it isn't broke, it doesn't have enough features yet.
The difference between Mechanical Engineers and Civil Engineers is:
Mechanical Engineers build weapons.  Civil Engineers build targets

I know it will play, but there are some problems concerning ships, briefings and script.

Re: info on several campaigns?
Oh, welcome: A new FS campaign (1 or 2) is always appreciated. However, did you ever consider a quick translation to english? This would make it quite more popular. ;)
It's possible that I'll translate my campaign to English in future, but now I don't have lot of time (nowadays I have lot of exams at university.)

A flaky English translation wouldn't be any better than the Slovak. FreeSpace is a simple enough game, you can figure out what's going on without reading the briefings.
Hmmm I could write for all missions short description in English. That could help. I let you know when I do it that.

Re: info on several campaigns?
It's a little easier to do mission translations nowadays.  All you have to do is use the Voice Acting Manager to export your mission text into a script.  Then run the script through BabelFish or some other translation program.  Paste the translated text back into the mission using Wordpad or something.  Voila, (crappy) translated missions. :)

Re: info on several campaigns?
Yeah but you should be using the proper translation system and an altered tstrings.tbl. :D

One of these days I'll have to clean up the 5 minute Java hack I used to generate the BtRL tstrings.tbl and release it so no one has any excuse. :p

Looks like interesting. I'll try it :)
