New Starfury in The Lost Tales?
edit: Below this post, 0rph3u5 has made two posts, one containing the .pof and .tbm, the other containing the texture maps. If you want to try out his Aurora Mk II, just look :). If you want to try out my slight modifications, check the second page for the filefront link.

Compare!

The starfury of the past... look at where the guns are.

http://www.isnnews.net/hyperspace/ea/eafury-a_lg1.jpg
(edit: also look at this around 1:08 to see them shooting only from the bottom, even in season 4: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rGXLAIDpsWQ&feature=related )

The starfury of The Lost Tales... notice it shooting! Where is it shooting from? (Yes, the one that you can see shooting  :doubt: )
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OuytS7fj64E

:shaking: what kind of starfury is this? Whenever I saw a starfury on all seasons of B5, they only shot out of the lower side of the starfury!

Is this a new starfury or not?
But it would be cool to have a starfury with two 40mm pulse cannons!
(or if they are counted individually, 4)

Does it not just have the standard arrangement but flip, and when it's close up you're just seeing its belly?

no, if you look carefully, its shooting out of the top and bottom after it flips. this means there are two sets, rather than just one.

I made a .gif of the section where you can see the difference!

Re: New Starfury in The Lost Tales?
I saw what you mean and it would make sense that the EA upgraded the old Aurora design until then (the old Aurora must have been around for at least 25-30 years by then)

adding a second set of primaries to the Aurora-model is not problem... nor is creating a tbm for it (maybe I'll do)

EDIT: all done - a 40mm for the second primary slot?
(and yes I did add more weapons power; although that need to be balanced)

Give that it's meant to be showing Starfuries from 30 years in the future from that point (itself over 20 years after the first star furies appeared) I'm not at all surprised they changed.

What's odd is that they aren't using Thunderbolts instead. :D

I believe the real reason is that they couldn't do the Thunderbolt in time, I heard that somewhere...

sounds cool! If you were to actually play it however, it may be slightly strange at first.. considering (I'm guessing) that people would expect it to be shooting from the lower and not the top spot.

My only question is what will happen with the modified (future) starfury?  :nervous:

Hello all,

I found it actually rather odd if Tbolts were supposed to replaced the Auroras entirely... speaking of the design only, the aurora is a better space-superiority fighter. It has less mass and it is more compact than the Tbolt, thus having the same controls, engines, etc. it should be more agile. Sheridan’s assessment about the more sensitive Tbold’s controls is true for 2260/61, but there is no reason not to upgrade the Auroras with equal or better systems.
Moreover the standing position of the pilot is also an advantage in space combat.

And obviously EF has done so. Take a look at the pit, it was changed as well, there are now MFDs on the side struts, which B5’s Furies had not. And it uses four guns.

Already in Crusade we see the best ship of Earth on it’s most important mission equipped with Auroras – there must be a reason. I’d guess it is still EF’s first choice for space combat, supplemented by the more expansive Tbolt, but not replaced. That is why I find the great superiority of the Tbolt in TBP somewhat suspicious (no critics to the game itself - it is great!  :) ).

regards
Beauty. In the dark.

Re: New Starfury in The Lost Tales?
Believe it or not, the Disrupter is one of the strongest anti fighter weapons in TBP. A Minbari Sharlin will kill a large shadow battlecrab when both approach each other. EM-War area earth vessels are useless. And a Whitestar is one of the most harmless ships in the universe, since it basicly stands still.

TBP is far from perfect. But it's good and it's the only mod with enough ships to create really neat campaigns...

By the way, I hope no ships got removed for 3.4b, I recently used a few exotic ones.

Re: New Starfury in The Lost Tales?
Thunderbolts were designed to operate in both in atmosphere and in space, whereas the Aurora, Badger, and Tiger are space only.
Deuternomy 22:11 explained:

Well there are many different speculations going on about this law about not mixing fibers and at least one explanation claims that it was a symbolic gesture designed to keep a pure sense of culture, people, and religion.  Seperation of crop  in the vinyard, mentioned in Dt. 22:9 and 22:10 seem to reaffirm this idea, though there may be other reasons as well.

And now, an excerpt from the Prayer of Mordecai, the Book of Esther Chapter C (New American Bible Official Catholic version).

Est C:5  You know all things.  You know, O Lord, that it was not out of insolence or pride or desire for fame that I acted thus in not bowing down to the proud Haman.  6  Gladly would I have kissed the soles of his feet for the salvation of Israel.  7  But I acted as I did so as not to place the honor of man above that of God.  I will not bow down to anyone but you, my Lord.  It is not out of pride that I am acting thus.

It seems great, but the only issue I found was that the ship is... invisible!...either that or its just that the entire pof doesn't seem to want to load, but it is viewable in PCS2 without textures and all..

I even reinstalled TBP just to check, my textures had been acting up before...

FRED's erm.. weird ship next to an aurora  :p (set it to be 'outline', and no 'ship model'... and with 'ship model', it would be harder to notice!)

sidenote: I did modify the table and all, and I placed in the POF into the right folder...  :wtf:
And it might just be me being stupid, as I am new to TBP still

Looks kind of weird in game with the normal auora maps applied.  :ick:

But on the other hand, I can see it.

Re: New Starfury in The Lost Tales?
Is that a new Centauri cruiser as well?  I'm pretty sure the standard one only has two engines, not the cross pattern shown in the video.
When the reactor explodes, it's usually a sign that you've taken too much damage.

you could also say (but I can not confirm) their use of the Centauri Kutai Gunship:

(Look between the first warlock exploding and the other centauri vessel.. you will see something like that)

Re: New Starfury in The Lost Tales?
You may find this page interesting: hi-res pics of the new version of the Aurora, a nicely-detailed Babylon 5, that new Minbari ship, what is either a re-imagining of the Vorchan or its replacement, and various other craft. I didn't notice any Kutai, but there's definitely some Balvarin in the background.

When I tried it with the new maps, I noticed it seemed to spin out of control slightly more... any way to fix that?  :wtf: (It seems just a tad too much) [edit: ok, editing the density helps.... somewhat.. I always have too much or too little.   :sigh: )

also, to get it to fire like they had it shooting in the lost tales, select the first weapon, then select both... if you time it right, both 40mm pulses will shoot at the similar rate like the lost tales version :)
