Re: Could you, would you...
You wouldn't really have a hope in hell of getting away with it unless you already knew how to cash stolen checks already.

It's not like the bank isn't going to track you down fairly easily unless you know how to set up a fake and untraceable bank account. So when it comes down to it the likely outcomes for this guy were $50 in cash vs lengthy jail term. I'd say he picked the right one.

Swiss? Pffft, Caymans all the way :P
"The reason for this is that the original Fortran got so convoluted and extensive (10's of millions of lines of code) that no-one can actually figure out how it works, there's a massive project going on to decode the original Fortran and write a more modern system, but until then, the UK communication network is actually relying heavily on 35 year old Fortran that nobody understands." - Flipside

If the name was blank, I can honestly I totally would have. If it was all filled out, though, there wouldn't be much I could do, and I'd return it.

Re: Could you, would you...
most likely if you were to try to cash that check, the bank wouldnt do it because its not in your name. no bank would cash something like that without 4 kinds of id.

sounds like his mom was a witch. :D

i was thinking the same thing. not a real pagan, but one of those wiccan hippies.

Yup. So it's really a choice between $50 and being ****ed. :nervous:

Anyway, I probably wouldn't do it. My weak willpower wouldn't allow me to abandon my primitive notions of "right" and "wrong".

EDIT: Either that or I'm just too lazy to cash the check. This one time, I found a $50 bill on the sidewalk, I picked it up, laughed, and put it in my pocket.

Re: Could you, would you...
i frequently find large sums of money in the self checkout at the store. someone had left a good 35 bucks in the machine once, another time i picked up 10. i have this theory, that if they were too dumb to get their change, they would probibly spent it on weed. so they are better off without it.
