Trouble installing Windows XP home OEM
So I'm building a new computer for my family and the build went fine.

When I tried to install Windows XP Home from the OEM CD, it asked for the product key, which is when I realied there wasn't one. I tried calling Microsoft, but it was basically an audio version of their help file. Is it a product problem, and should I try to call newegg?

If I'm trying to stay legal what the hell should I do?

I don't believe anyone actually exists in Microsoft technical support. Even if someone knows a number to call or something please tell me.

Sorry for double post, but I just spent an hour or so being snubbed.

There should be a Certification sticker on the computer that that Windows CD came with with the product key.  (Double words FTW  )  Where did you get said CD?  I added your IM accounts, BTW

 I read that 10 minutes ago on Uncyclopedia. (WinXD).

Really though, pirated versions lose the OEM crap, and are generally better. I have one right now. And unless a M$ coder walks up to your house, who's gonna know it's pirated if you have the original disc?
Gettin' back to dodgin' lasers.

You should be able to find plenty of keygens and serial numbers on the net. The joys of legal software.
"The reason for this is that the original Fortran got so convoluted and extensive (10's of millions of lines of code) that no-one can actually figure out how it works, there's a massive project going on to decode the original Fortran and write a more modern system, but until then, the UK communication network is actually relying heavily on 35 year old Fortran that nobody understands." - Flipside
