New Feature for FSO (Awesome vid and screens)
I developed this feature for the Star Wars TC, but it has quite a bit of use for other mods as well. What it does is it lets you slave other ships' secondaries to your own, so when you fire, so do they. This is what it looks like:

It's so much fun to control this much firepower. I feel like a kid in a candy store.

Awesome Vid is here. Low FPS is caused by fraps recording at 1400x900 as well as firing that many missiles :D

It hit the mining ship so hard it went into a spin!

So I can create a weapon called "artillery strike" and then proceed to point it at a target and watch as huge guns from three clicks away open up?

Well uh, that's called a TAG! ;)  This is for wingmen.

Seriously though, very cool   I'm looking forward to combining this with phreak's salvo fire idea :D

that reminds me. Did anybody fix the targeting laser, so that it TAGs a target or something?

Targeting Laser = Subspace Vortex opening and a Helios/Cyclops exiting to hit whatever's targeted IIRC.

Video's unwachable due to its ****tastic 4 FPS though I guess it does convey the general idea.

Neat trick.

I developed this feature for the Star Wars TC...
I know they used this trick in the X-Wing books, I'm just trying to remember when. Wasn't it like: Corran was targeting a frigate and had a whole bunch of Y-wings fire their torpedoes at the same time he did? I seem to remember this was used in a training exercise at some point or another too.

Actually it is a standard technique used by Alliance bombers and fighters: they fire off all their proton torpedoes in a single salvo so it can locally pierce the targeted ship's shield without battering it down all the way.

Re: New Feature for FSO (Awesome vid and screens)
I feel so geeky for knowing this. It's awesome. :D

It was used in, IIRC, the Bacta War, when Rogue Squadron resigned from the Alliance in order to make war on Ysanne Isard and the Lusankya, which had blockaded essentially all of the Bacta in the galaxy. Rogue Squadron purchased ~300 proton torpedo launchers and targeting computers.

The targeting computers all went to the space station that Rogue Squadron was using as a base at the time. As Rogue Squadron attacked the planet, Booster Terrik, who was in charge of the station, warded off a full-scale attack and forced the surrender of an Imperial Star Destroyer - which was overwhelmed by the 300 torpedoes its sensors reported were trained on it.

Meanwhile, Rogue Squadron began engaging the Super Star Destroyer Lusankya in battle. As the battle raged on, Corran Horn drew a bead on the Super Star Destroyer and locked on with his X-wing's targeting computer. Nobody thought anything of it until all of the X-wings and a large number of freighters all launched upon the Super Star Destroyer, overwhelming its shields and ending the conflict.

It may have been used other places as well, but that's the most significant use that I can think of. ;)

It's not very awesome at 2 FPS. :(

Use GameCam. :D

Re: New Feature for FSO (Awesome vid and screens)
This could be useful if it's rigged such that if I'm flying my Medusa towards a Shivan destroyer I can have all my wingmen fire a double salvo at exactly the same time. Larger salvo hopefully means some will break through.

Re: New Feature for FSO (Awesome vid and screens)
ok, so you can make your wingmates fire when you fire, but can you make them shoot at what you're shooting at?

I'm assuming this was for that bit in the X-wing books when the squadron of Y-wings take out the ISD by linking their torps to Corran's targeting computer while he dodged the laser fire.  Right?

To write the love of God above, would drain the ocean dry
Nor could the scroll contain the whole, though stretched from sky to sky!

Re: New Feature for FSO (Awesome vid and screens)
How does this exactly work?
Can I like it with capships also and are all linked ships are firing at the same target?

Also in your example all ships where allready faceing the target. What is if you try to do this during a fight? I get a lock but is it requiered that all others also have a look on the target or will they just shoot without a lock?
