Their Finest Hour - Redux
Here is my redux of Their Finest Hour - i started with the original V mission and its unused paths and worked from there

Re: Their Finest Hour - Redux
O.o

Aside from the pointless added objective to defend Kephri and the additional bombers and fighters which is something that I do not like at all in the mission since it detracts from what's going on with the Colossus, the Colossus/Ravana/Sathanas engagement is almost EXACTLY the same as retail.

That was...

A waste of my time.

Re: Their Finest Hour - Redux
oh really... it's hardly the same on my system - the fleet actually have their beams enabled, the big C actually has a chance to engage in somewhat of a firefight with the Sath instead of getting torn to bits in 10 seconds flat

Re: Their Finest Hour - Redux
Yes, now it's 15 seconds, with added crap like bombers and dragons completely detracting from the point.

I did like the beam-free-all on the friendlies though, so that's about the only plus it has.

Re: Their Finest Hour - Redux
that's the best i've been able to get the big C and Col fight without having the fight last forever because the back end of the sathanas get's turned toward the big C for too long - and you can't just free the sath from it's waypoint path because then it will take eons for it to kill the big C even with me having added extra LRed emplacements to the sath

Re: Their Finest Hour - Redux
Yes, I assume that's why they just disabled the Colossus after trying the waypoint thing and let it get done the way it has, which is why I said in the previous thread, it really doesn't get better than it is (well it may be possible to do some blue angels ****, but it's unlikely at best) - although beam-freeing the friendlies is the upgrade I'd vie for as well.

Well...at least this Redux gives the Colossus a bit more face value. :D

Its nice to see the Colossus go down with even a little fight ... good job.

The Sathanas never warps out though ... is that intentional?

V never gave it a departure cue, i saw no reason to add one as you are supposed to be GTFOing

Hmm ... I could swear I saw it warp out when I played.  Maybe I was mistaken.

EDIT: I was mistaken.  The Sathanas never warps out.  Never mind.

For some reason, I also used to think that the Sathanas warped out...
But, upon me replaying the game a few weeks ago, it just sat there.

Put this in data/missions.  You can play it by going to the Mission Simulator and clicking on single missions.  If you want it to be part of the campaign, just remove the "-kazan" part of the filename (it should be SM3-08.fs2).

No wonder I couldn't find my own unfinished version when I saved it as sm3-08.fs2... :wtf:

Re: Their Finest Hour - Redux
new version of it with a much more satisfying exchange (fleet got the sath down to 40% before Big C bought it)
