None taken... as I don't live in the UK, I can't be expected to know about popular shows over there, eh?

(Especially considering I hardly pay attention to what is popular in America, for that matter...)

I know Doctor Who is really popular, and I know the Daleks are mechanical alien enemies in the show... but yeah, that's about it.

Outrageous. I'm from Europe as well, and I didn't know what Daleks are, but not knowing Star Wars?  :eek: It's like not knowing about the president of the USA or so... Dammit, GDrax... You're unbelievable... Take a look at R2-D2 here. He does look like those Daleks, just somewhat less old-fashioned.

It's one thing not to watch Star Wars but R2-D2's name is basically part of pop-culture now (same as the Daleks are over here). Even people who would never watch the films know what R2-D2 is. It's like having no idea who Captain Kirk or Spock are.

Not necessarily...check the classic series...There are events which lead earth to war with the daleks mid 3rd millenium and later in the year 4000...The events of those stories is generally believed to have resulted in wars with the Daleks

If Trashman is foolish enough to judge a TV Show based on a wikipedia entry despite so many here saying that they like it let him remain in ignorance.

I find it quite funny that it's taken so long for Dr Who to break into the foreign markets. We are, after all, talking about the longest running sci-fi show on TV. Yeah, I know the show has been updated but a lot of the elements that made it so good in the older shows are still there.  :D
